💜💜💜
As part of our school’s yearly mission to raise awareness of World Cystic Fibrosis Day, we’re sharing a beautiful reflection from 11-year-old Lucy (Year 5 student) that highlights how CF can impact not only the person living with it, but the whole family. 💛
Lucy was recently asked at school to write a reflection on a story that has shaped her, and her choice speaks volumes.
Lucy has a younger brother living with cystic fibrosis (CF), and she chose the book Ghosts by Raina Telgemeier. For those unfamiliar, the story follows a young girl navigating life alongside her sister, who lives with CF.
“It can be very hard being a sibling of someone with CF, and reading the story from another CF sibling’s perspective made me feel seen and understood.”
It’s a beautiful reminder of how stories can help children feel seen, understood and less alone, and how the impact of CF extends beyond the person living with CF to the whole family.
Thank you, Lucy, for sharing your voice and perspective. 💫
