COMMUNITY CONNECT DAY – MOREE
Moree Plains Shire Council joined local service providers at Jacaranda Park today for Community Connect Day, bringing together Centacare, Quickshade, Quit B Fit, Bamara, Legal Aid, Joblink Plus, Community Corrections, Moree Family Support and Moree Police/Guumali Youth Project.

Community Connect Days give residents the opportunity to meet with service providers, learn about the support available and connect with services across the Moree Plains.

There are still two more opportunities to get involved, with upcoming Community Connect Days in Mungindi and Boggabilla.

UPDATE - WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION - DRUMMOND & BOSTON ST
There will be an overnight road closure towards the northern end of Drummond St, while Council continue works on this issue tomorrow.

We apologise for the inconvenience and will continue to update as we work to resolve this issue.

WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION - DRUMMOND & BOSTON ST

**Update** Works will continue into tomorrow (Thursday 8 October). Partial closure of the road intersection will be left in place overnight.

Council advises that a burst water main near the corner of Drummond and Boston St is currently impacting the water supply.

Residents at the northern end of Boston, Drummond and Balo St may experience low water pressure today.

We ask those experiencing low water pressure to please be mindful of their water consumption.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank residents for their patience while crews work to resolve the issue.

We will provide further updates as they become available.

COUNCIL WELCOMES $62M INVESTMENT IN MOREE PLAINS
Moree Plains Shire Council has welcomed the NSW Government's announcement that Civil Mining & Construction Pty Ltd have been engaged to deliver $49m of infrastructure works for the Moree Special Activation Precinct, with works kicking off the long-awaited development expected to commence in March 2027.

Adding further cause for celebration, well-known grain supply chain company CHS Broadbent has secured 14.6ha within the Precinct to expand their operations.

Mayor Susannah Pearse said both announcements represent massive milestones, and great news for the future prosperity of the Moree Plains Shire.

“I would like to sincerely thank the NSW Government and CHS Broadbent for their significant investments.

"This is a major vote of confidence in our Shire, in the strength of our local producers, and the future of our economy. It reinforces what we already know, and that is, the Moree Plains is a smart place to invest and do business.

“It is especially exciting to see an existing Moree Plains business like CHS Broadbent leading the way as the first investor in the Precinct."

The Precinct's infrastructure works are expected to support up to 250 jobs and will unlock the first 100 hectares of serviced industrial land, available for businesses to invest in the Shire. The first release of serviced land within the Precinct will be available for off-the-plan purchase of leasing in 2027 across a range of sizes.

“This means more jobs, more businesses, more growth, more people in our coffee shops and on our main streets," said Mayor Pearse.

"It's terrific news, and it's just the beginning."

FOUND WANDERING 🐾
This red cattle dog was found wandering this afternoon by our Rangers from Anne Street, Moree.

If you are the owner, or know who this dog belongs to, please contact Moree Plains Shire Council as soon as possible on (02) 6757 3222.

Proof of ownership is required before the dog can be released.

MUNGINDI TRANSFER STATION - TEMPORARY CLOSURE
Mungindi Transfer Station will be closed to the public from Monday 12 October to Sunday 18 October 2026 while licensed contractors undertake asbestos remediation works at the site.

To ensure the safety of the community, no public access will be permitted during the closure period, including access to skip bins.

To assist residents following the closure, Council will provide extended opening hours:

Monday, 19 October 2026: 8:00am - 11:00am
Tuesday, 20 October 2026: 2:30pm - 5:00pm

Council appreciates the community's patience and understanding while these important safety and environmental works are completed.
