Caves & Turtles & Goats, oh my!🐢🐐

One of our Supported Accommodation customers, Lisa, recently headed down South for a long‑awaited short‑stay adventure.

From exploring ancient caves, to getting up close with incredible sea life, to feeding adorable baby animals, this trip was so much more than a holiday. It was a thoughtfully planned opportunity for Lisa to experience new environments, engage her senses, and enjoy a remarkable sense of calm and happiness.

This National Reconciliation Week, we’re proud to share the incredible story of Dr Richard Fejo from Flinders University- a First Nations man with a disability who is breaking barriers through education and storytelling.
💛🖤❤️

From captivating audiences at the AFL Dreamtime match, to representing Australia in rugby, the “shy skinny kid with one arm” is driving systematic change.

Shaped by his mum Lorna’s Stolen Generations story and a belief in a better, more inclusive future, Richard is making actual change.

✨ “Education is knowledge and knowledge is power. Wisdom is what we do with our power.” ✨

As winter starts, our supported accommodation houses are getting cosy. ❄️🏠

Craig, Dwayne, and Bradley spent the evening enjoying each other’s company over a few competitive rounds of UNO. Sometimes the best nights are the simple ones shared together.

At just four years old, Lorna Fejo was removed from her family, her Country and her identity - one of many Aboriginal children taken under policies now known as the Stolen Generations.

Decades later, she would come face to face with the man involved in her removal. In an extraordinary act of strength, she chose compassion. She chose forgiveness.

Shared by her son, Dr Richard Fejo from Flinders University, Lorna’s story is a powerful reminder of what was taken, what survived, and what can still be healed.
Her story was brought to the nation during the 2008 National Apology, and today it continues to call on all of us to listen and to act.

The theme this National Reconciliation Week is ‘All In’, because meaningful reconciliation requires every one of us.

With the season in full swing, footy fever is well and truly sweeping through Rocky Bay.

Recently, our customer Rob headed to Optus Stadium with his support worker, Dyan, to cheer on his beloved Fremantle Dockers as they took on Hawthorn. From the packed train ride to the roar of the stadium, Rob took it all in as he politely navigated the crowds, chatted with Transperth staff, and soaked up the atmosphere.

Once the game began, he was all in. Within minutes he was calling out his thoughts on the plays, reacting to every twist and turn, and riding the emotional rollercoaster that only true footy fans know as Freo pulled off a thrilling fourth‑quarter comeback.

All in all, it was a brilliant day out for one of Freo's most passionate fans! 💜⚓

Thank you to everyone who ran, donated, or cheered from the sidelines at HBF Run for a Reason on Sunday.

We had a fantastic crew of Rocky Bay customers, team members and supporters and raised an impressive $4,655! 🥳

Funds raised go directly to our Wishing Tree, helping to make dreams come true for people living with disability 💙

The Wishing Tree is funded entirely by donations, and helps:

💫Increase independence
💫Support a better living environment
💫Fulfil a long-term goal or ambition
💫Provide a special, one-off treat

And there’s still time to donate!

Please feel free to share the link with others who may want to contribute: https://runforareason26.grassrootz.com/rocky-bay

Now, runners back on – let’s start training for 2027! 🏃

Howdy partner! 🤠

Our Rockingham respite accommodation transformed into the Wild West for a Country Western weekend full of themed music, decorations, costumes, and plenty of fun. Safe to say, we discovered quite a few cowboys at heart along the way. 🐎🎶
