Congratulations to our Year 7/8 debating team on winning their regional semi-final!

Arguing the affirmative on the topic, “That all kids should be required to do community service for one day every fortnight”, Dominic, Eva, Violet and Oliver successfully made their case and secured a place in the regional final. The team is now one of the top two in our region of the competition (which included 44 teams) - a fantastic achievement! We are proud of their hard work and wish them every success in the final.

🏆Schools Cup Regional Finals🏆

Last term, after a long wait three of our teams proudly represented MVHS at the Schools Cup Regional Finals. Our Years 7/8 girls, Years 7/8 boys and Years 9/10 boys team all competed exceptionally well, demonstrating impressive skill, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the day.

Our Years 7/8 girls showed excellent resilience and continued to develop as a team across their games with some pleasing results throughout the day. Our Years 7/8 boys produced some fantastic performances, coming so close to a semi-final appearance but narrowly missing out by the smallest of goal differences.

The stars of the day were our Year 9/10 boys, who progressed to the semi-finals after an outstanding day of competition. Although their campaign ended there, they proved themselves to be genuine contenders and competed strongly right to the end. An even more impressive achievement considering the entire team was made up of Year 9 students with limited netball experience. We can’t wait to see what they can do next year.

As usual, all of your students are to be commended for their exemplary behaviour throughout the day.

Thank you to Miss Heyhorn for all her organisation and coaching along with Miss Byrne.

A big congratulations to our nine students and three teachers who took on an incredible three-day adventure through the Southern Highlands, combining challenging hiking with a spectacular canoe journey for a Silver Duke of Ed Adventurous Journey.

Day 1: Starting at the top of Meryla Pass, the group hiked 10km along the historic route towards Jervis Bay, finishing at Griffins Farm at the bottom of the valley.

Day 2: A really challenging 10km trek that saw students climb out of the valley, tackling long, steep hills with 15kg packs on their backs before reaching Beehive Point. A true test of determination and resilience!

Day 3: Trading hiking boots for paddles, the group canoed 14km from Beehive Point to Bendeela, surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Kangaroo River.

Our students did an amazing job, showing resilience, teamwork and a fantastic attitude throughout the journey. They are role models to their peers and should be incredibly proud of what they achieved!

A huge thank you to our three teachers for supporting the group and helping make this adventure possible. (Mr Nash, Ms Skarratts and Mr Straughan)

What an achievement!!

Our Duke of Edinburgh 2026 Bronze students have successfully completed the 34km Murramarang South Coast Track over 3 days, tackling challenging terrain, carrying their packs and camping along the beautiful NSW South Coast. Throughout the journey, students demonstrated resilience, teamwork and determination, supporting each other through the challenges and making memories along the way.

A fantastic effort by all students involved. Thank you to Mr Straughan, Ms Byrne and Mr Van Bentum for all of your help and dedication.

What an amazing 8 weeks for our students participating in the EPP Start Your Future Metal Fabrication & Welding program at Moss Vale TAFE!

Over the 8 weeks, our students have developed valuable practical skills and gained hands on experience in welding and metal fabrication. They have worked hard to create some fantastic projects, including fire pits, dice and beautiful metal flowers.
We are especially proud to share that two of our students have already secured apprenticeships with Tyree for 2027!

It’s wonderful to see our students building their skills, exploring future career pathways and turning their hard work into exciting opportunities. A huge congratulations to all of our students on their achievements!

Congratulations to our Year 7/8 debating team on winning their quarter-final!

Taking the negative side of the challenging topic, “That Australia should stop commemorating war”, the team successfully argued their case and secured a place in the regional semi-finals. Well done to Eva, Dominic, Oliver, and Violet on this fantastic achievement. We wish them every success in the next round!
