Please be advised that the fire danger period for East Gippsland and Welling Shire Councils commence Monday morning!

If you are burning off between now and then, register your burns, check the forecast especially wind conditions and make sure all burns are cold and finished by Monday.

To register your burn-off online at Fire Permits Victoria if it’s more than 2hrs away from lighting up or call the notification line at 1800 668 511

The Fire Danger Period will begin 1.00am Monday 5 October 2026 for the following municipalities:
Wellington Shire Council
East Gippsland Shire Council

These restrictions mark the official start of Victoria's fire season. Make sure you know what you can and can't do during the Fire Danger Period.

Our juniors had a different session last week - we had Johnsonville Fire Brigade give a demonstration on how they do a gas flare off (burning the gas in a controlled environment).

The juniors discussed how to test gas lines with soapy water, other safety precautions including when a gas bottles may need to be flared off, and the cold of the bottle and fittings at the end.

CFA Excercise Sarsfield Recreation Reserve Today 9 August 2026

The CFA are conducting an annual excercise at the Sarsfield Recreation Reserve, School Road Sarsfield today.

There will be multiple fire applainces moving around the area and there may also be some smoke in area.

This is a standard part of the CFA's preperation ahead of the fire season for 2026 and is valuable for members to gain additional skills and experience.
