Celebrating Community Contribution and Achievement!
A wonderful recognition of the achievements and contributions of the Day Options volunteer group!
Through their partnership with Mount Barker District Council and LIVIT Disability, the volunteers continue to make a meaningful difference to the local environment and community.
This year alone, the group has:
🌱 Planted over 500 native plants
♻️ Collected 30 large bags of rubbish
🌳 Assisted with watering and mulching environmental sites
🐇 Helped map rabbit warrens
🐦 Participated in bird surveys to support local conservation efforts
These achievements reflect the group's dedication, teamwork and commitment to making a positive difference. A special acknowledgement to our Day Options leadership and broader Day Options team, whose ongoing commitment to creating meaningful opportunities enables our clients to connect, contribute and play an active role in their community.
Congratulations to everyone involved! Your efforts demonstrate the positive impact of community participation and the value of creating opportunities for everyone to contribute.

Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day. It's an opportunity to pause, check in with ourselves and those around us, and reflect on how we can look after our own mental health and well-being.
A simple conversation, a kind message or taking the time to listen can make a meaningful difference.
This World Mental Health Day, let's help to raise awareness, reduce stigma and create a community where everyone feels safe to seek support when they need it.

HCO supports Safe Work Month this October!

In disability support, safety is at the heart of everything we do. From supporting people to live independently and participate in their communities, to creating safe and respectful workplaces for our teams, everyone has a role to play in keeping each other safe.

This October, we’re taking the time to Stop. Think. Act. because safe, supportive environments help people live well, work confidently and achieve their goals.

💙 Safety starts with all of us.

At HCO, we provide NDIS-funded Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) options, so you can live the way that works best for you – whether that’s with others or on your own.
We offer a wide range of comfortable, accessible, and secure shared homes, or we can help you find the right private or community housing to suit your needs. For eligible participants, SDA funding can cover specially designed or modified homes for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs.
Living in a safe, supportive environment while being part of your local community can open new doors, build your independence, and improve your quality of life. We’ll work closely with you to find something that’s just right.

What does our Concierge Team do?
Our Concierge Team is here to provide an extra layer of support for our clients and staff, particularly outside of regular business hours.
Think of them as an extra helping hand when it’s needed most.
The team can help with things like:
📞 Responding to enquiries and urgent calls.
🚨 Supporting emergency situations.
💊 Checking medication, house and documentation requirements.
🔎 Carrying out shift spot checks and audits.
🤝 Supporting staff when they need guidance or assistance.
⏰ Stepping in to help cover shifts at short notice when needed.
Because support doesn’t always happen between 9 and 5. Our Concierge Team helps provide continuity, reassurance and an extra level of support when something unexpected happens.
We’re proud to have a team dedicated to making sure our clients and staff feel supported around the clock.

Quality support is not always measured by a major milestone. Sometimes, it is seen in a moment of trust that has taken months, or even years to build. Recently, a client supported by HCO reached an important milestone: feeling safe enough to have a difficult conversation with a support worker outside the small circle of people they have traditionally trusted.
This moment reflects much more than one interaction. It demonstrates what can happen when SIL supports, behaviour support strategies and everyday service delivery are aligned around the person's individual goals and needs. Through consistent, calm and person-centred support, the team has focused on building safety, trust and confidence, not just completing tasks. Practice leadership has supported workers to understand the purpose behind the strategies and translate that into meaningful interactions in everyday support.
For HCO, this is what quality service delivery looks like: understanding the person, aligning support with their goals and behaviour support needs, and recognising that meaningful progress is often built through many small, consistent interactions.
A wonderful achievement for the client and the team supporting them.
