Mt Druitt Police Area Command recognises Refugee Week as Australia’s peak annual celebration to raise awareness of refugee experiences and honour the contributions refugees make to our communities. This year’s theme, “A Million Stories,” marks the one million humanitarian visas granted since 1947 and highlights the many journeys that have helped shape our nation.

We are proud to attend Mt Druitt TAFE alongside multicultural service providers celebrating Refugee Week. This was a great opportunity for community members to meet our officers and take home a crime prevention showbag. We remain committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful community for all.

What are anti-theft screws?
Anti-theft screws are specially designed screws that secure your number plates so they can’t be easily removed with normal tools.
- Helps prevent plate theft
- Makes it harder for offenders to quickly remove plates
- Simple way to protect your vehicle

Come down and say hello, there will also be Rural Fire Service vehicles on site, so it’s a great chance to check them out and have a chat!

Can you help us find Lilly-Anna?

Lilly-Anna, aged 15, was last seen in Rooty Hill about 7am yesterday, Thursday 11 June 2026.

Police and her family hold concern for her welfare due to her age.

She is believed to frequent the Mount Druitt area.

At 12:02am on Thursday, 11 June 2026, police were patrolling Bougainville Road, Lethbridge Park, when they observed a male standing on the corner of Bougainville Road and Apia Place. Police also noted a vehicle parked nearby.

Several minutes later, police sighted the same vehicle travelling along Bougainville Road towards Luxford Road. Officers monitored the vehicle and the driver’s movements for a short time before conducting a traffic stop.

Police spoke with the male driver, who is from a Shanes Park address. Following a number of enquiries, officers conducted a search of the vehicle. During the search, police located a large knife in the centre console, along with two additional knives on the passenger seat. Police seized all 3 knifes from inside the vehicle.

The driver was placed under arrest and subsequently charged with Custody of knife in public place first offence. The matter is now before the court.

About 11:00pm on Wednesday, 10 June 2026, police attended an address in Rooty Hill to conduct a curfew compliance check on a male offender. Whilst at the location, officers observed the offender holding a black and purple box as he approached a Toyota Camry parked in the driveway with its engine running.

When police called out and directed him to stop, the offender fled on foot. A short foot pursuit was initiated, with officers giving clear directions to stop. The offender was apprehended at the rear of the complex.

Just prior to being caught, the offender threw the box over a neighbouring fence. He then resisted arrest but was eventually restrained and taken into custody.

Police retrieved the box, locating Methylamphetamine, an ice pipe, a bottle labelled “Vanilla and Coconut Air Freshener”

Further testing at Mt Druitt Police Station confirmed 2.16g of methylamphetamine,186g of liquid positively identified as 1,4-butanediol
The offender has been charged with:
▪️ Hinder or resist police
▪️ Possess prohibited drug (small quantity)
▪️ Supply prohibited drug (indictable, less than commercial quantity)

The matter is now before the court

Yesterday, Superintendent Darrin Batchelor joined local MP Edmond Atalla at Baabayn Aboriginal Corporation to raise new flags and spend time with members of the Baabayn community.

The visit provided an opportunity to connect, have a yarn with community members, and continue strengthening the positive relationships between police and the community we serve.

We thank Baabayn Aboriginal Corporation for the important work they do in supporting, empowering and bringing people together through their Healing Centre.

We look forward to continuing our partnership and working alongside the Baabayn team and community into the future.

Mount Druitt Police are warning the community about an increase in Facebook Marketplace scams where sellers are being targeted.

In these incidents, offenders arrange to view an item for sale and ask to inspect it in person. During the inspection, the offender will suddenly grab the item and run away before payment is made, leaving the seller at a loss.

To help reduce your risk, if you are meeting someone in person to buy or sell an item, consider arranging to meet in a busy public place with CCTV coverage such as inside a fast food restaurant, Police Station or shopping centre
