🌈🎉 COLOURFUL FREE DRESS & CRAZY HAIR DAY 🎉🌈
Our Junior School Council students have chosen to hold a Colourful Free Dress and Crazy Hair Day on Tuesday 23 June in support of Felix House.
Felix House is a community drop-in centre in Lilydale that supports people of all ages experiencing homelessness or hardship, providing essential services and practical assistance to those in need.
Students are invited to come dressed in their brightest colours and wear their craziest hairstyles for the day. Instead of a gold coin donation, we are asking families to donate much-needed toiletry items or non-perishable food to support the work of Felix House.
Suggested donations include:
🧴 Shampoo and conditioner
🧼 Soap
🪒 Shaving cream
🌸 Deodorant
🩹 Sanitary items
🧦 Adult socks
👕 Adult underwear
🥫 Non-perishable food
Thank you for helping our students make a positive difference in the community through this important Junior School Council initiative.

🏃♂️🌦️ CROSS COUNTRY UPDATE 🌦️🏃♀️
After multiple weather interruptions, we’re hoping for third time lucky as we prepare to run a modified Cross Country event at school this Thursday, 14 May.
👟 The event will primarily involve interested students in Years 4–6 (with some Year 3 students also welcome to participate), and will provide an opportunity for students to qualify for the District Cross Country team.
📝 Due to the late rescheduling of the event, we have not been able to establish a formal opt-in process. Instead, staff will simply be asking students whether or not they would like to participate, while also making it clear that students wishing to pursue the Cross Country pathway beyond school level will need to compete in this event to be eligible for selection.
👏 Families are warmly invited to attend and support during the afternoon. 📢 Full details in the Compass NewsFeed 📢
🙋♀️🙋♂️ We are also still seeking a small number of parent helpers — particularly to assist in supervising sections of the course near the staff carpark and along the front of the school.
🔗 For full event information — including participation details, qualification information and the Parent Helper Expression of Interest form — please refer to the full Compass post.
Thank you again for your flexibility and support! 💙

🌌 A small disturbance in the Force this morning…
Apologies for the slightly sinister (and somewhat foreboding!) soundtrack that kicked off our day today 😅
In honour of May the Fourth, we set a Star Wars playlist to run across the school—but as it turns out, when you let the Force decide, there’s no telling whether you’ll get something from the light side… or the dark side when the speakers burst into life 🎶
The good news:
✔️ No confirmed sightings of stormtroopers
✔️ No imperial takeovers
✔️ Plenty of Jedi energy from our students and staff
May the Fourth be with you ✨

🌺 ANZAC Day – Saturday 25 April 🌺
Today is ANZAC Day, a time for us to remember and say thank you to the brave Australians and New Zealanders who have served in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping missions.
ANZAC Day began after the landing at Gallipoli in 1915, and today it helps us reflect on important values like courage, mateship, kindness and looking out for others.
For students, it can be as simple as taking a quiet moment to think about the people who have helped keep our country safe, or talking with family about what ANZAC Day means. Many communities also hold dawn services and local ceremonies that families may wish to attend together.
Lest we forget. 🌹

As we approach the end of term, it’s a chance to pause and reflect on what has been a busy and rewarding few months at Birmingham Primary School.
Time and again, we’ve been reminded of the strength of our community — from everyday support in classrooms, to assistance at events and camps, to the incredible efforts of our Community Building Team across fundraising and relationship-building initiatives, and to families rallying around others doing it a bit tough.
This time of year brings a focus on kindness, generosity and connection, and it’s been wonderful to see those values in action across our school.
Thank you to our staff, students and families for all that you contribute. We wish everyone a safe, restful and happy Easter break, and look forward to another great term ahead.

Our amazing Easter hampers don’t make themselves! 🐣💛
Huge thanks to our incredible Community Building Team who jumped in to help this week — and apologies to those we didn’t manage to catch in action (and to those we did who would’ve preferred to stay anonymous!).
This amazing and ever-growing group consistently pulls together to achieve fantastic results for our school, and we’re so grateful to Elle and her team for their ongoing efforts.
If you’ve grabbed a raffle ticket (or a few!) — thank you, and good luck! 🎟️✨
