It was great to attend the 2026 Community Bank Southern Peninsula Rye Sportsperson of the Year Awards Night at the Rye Hotel on Wednesday night, along with Cr Williams and Deputy Mayor Pingiaro. 🏆

Twelve outstanding nominees were recognised in front of club representatives, special guests and Life Members, a great reminder of how much talent and community spirit we have in Rye.

Congratulations to this year’s winners:

🏅 Michael O’Rourke Senior Sportsperson of the Year: Sienna De La Sota, Rye Football Netball Club
🏅 Gary Gillies Junior Sportsperson of the Year: Finn Eagles, Rye Junior Football Club
🏅 Fay McCormick Administrator of the Year: Natalee Chiodo, Rye Tennis Club

Thank you to Fiona Sanford-Shepheard and Vicki O’Sullivan for reading the nominations and interviewing the nominees, and to Community Bank Southern Peninsula and all the major sponsors for making the night possible.

Well done to every nominee, and thank you to the volunteers and clubs who keep local sport thriving in our community.

It was a pleasure to visit Bolton Clarke Rosebrook, Rosebud last week to present residents with a Victorian flag! 🇦🇺

First adopted in 1870, our state flag is a proud symbol of Victoria’s history and heritage. It was lovely to say hello to residents and catch a little of their afternoon music concert! Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I look forward to visiting again soon!

🔒🚠 Locked up for a good cause!

I’m spending this morning locked in a gondola at the Arthurs Seat Eagle, all to raise money for a new CT scanner at Rosebud Hospital!

It’s all part of The Big Eagle, supporting Rosebud Hospital’s Big Picture Appeal, with participants challenged to raise $5,000 before they’re allowed back down!

Fantastic to be sharing a gondola with local resident Roger Lancia, Chair of the Mornington Peninsula Regional Tourism Board and GM of Pt. Leo Estate, for a bit of fun, some spectacular Peninsula views and, most importantly, a very worthy cause.

We kicked off the morning with a chat on air with Dave Ferguson from 3MP, fuelled by coffee from Arthurs Seat Eagle and a delicious bacon and egg roll courtesy of the amazing volunteers from the McCrae Lions Club!

Our community deserves access to modern healthcare close to home, and this is another great example of locals coming together to make a difference.

A huge thanks to Arthurs Seat Eagle, Community Bank Southern Peninsula, 3MP and everyone supporting this fantastic initiative!

💗 Help us bring a new CT scanner to Rosebud Hospital! Every donation makes a difference.

A fantastic day at Rye Yacht Club earlier this month for the official opening of the 2026/27 sailing season! ⛵☀️

It was a pleasure to join members and volunteers, speak about the importance of community, connection and volunteering, and officially declare the season open alongside Zoe McKenzie MP with the traditional ringing of the bell!

For 56 years, Rye Yacht Club has been bringing people together, introducing new generations to sailing and building a fantastic sense of community, all thanks to the dedication of its volunteers.

Thanks to Commodore Neville Taylor and the entire team for the warm welcome. Wishing everyone a fantastic season on the water!

Violence has no place in our democracy. My thoughts are with Helen and her family.

I am deeply shocked by the terrible attack on Helen Haines in Wangaratta this afternoon.

My thoughts are with Helen, her family, friends and staff at this incredibly difficult time.

I know Victorians everywhere will be hoping for her recovery.

I want to thank the bystanders who rushed to help, along with Victoria Police, paramedics and the medical professionals caring for Helen.

The circumstances of this attack are deeply concerning, and it is important that police are given every opportunity to establish exactly what happened.

Violence of this kind has no place in our state. I have spoken with the Premier this evening and we are united in our resolve that such extreme acts cannot be tolerated in a democratic society.

Helen is a dedicated and decent person who has spent years standing up for her community.

Right now, our thoughts are with her and those closest to her.

Great to catch up with Pam and the team at the Southern Peninsula Rescue Squad Op Shop in Rye recently!

This fantastic little op shop is run entirely by volunteers, with funds raised helping support the Southern Peninsula Rescue Squad and the vital marine search and rescue services they provide across our local waters.

I was also very happy to help the team secure a council grant recently, which will allow them to safely test and sell second-hand electrical goods.

There’s a huge range of weird and wonderful things to discover, so next time you’re in Rye, pop in, grab a bargain and support a great local cause!

A big thank you to Pam and all the volunteers for the wonderful work you do for our community!

Great to be down at Boneo Community Market this morning!

It’s clear there’s a mood for change, and people value our commitment to rebuild Rosebud Hospital, restore business confidence, put an end to Labor’s obsession with taxes, fix our roads and tackle local crime.

A great day in the sun! Thank you to all the Boneo Market volunteers who make it possible, and to some of the stallholders who very generously kept me fed!

We have reaffirmed our $340 million commitment to completely rebuild Rosebud Hospital, doubling bed capacity, delivering an expanded emergency department and ensuring we keep it in public hands.

We need a hospital that meets the healthcare needs of our entire community, from older residents to young families and workers, ensuring everyone can access quality healthcare close to home

We’ve waited long enough. We don’t need another minor upgrade or a fresh coat of paint. We need a complete rebuild.

Labor hasn’t. Independents and minor parties can’t. Only the Liberals will rebuild Rosebud Hospital.

Tradies are paying thousands of dollars a year just to get to work.

A Liberal Government will cap road tolls at $50 a week, helping tradies keep more of their hard earned money.

That’s real cost of living relief for the people building Victoria.

LISTENING TO LOCALS 👋

I regularly get out and about across Nepean for listening posts, chatting with locals about the issues that matter, both here on the Peninsula and right across Victoria.

It’s a great way to hear directly from people about what’s working, what isn’t and what they want to see change.

If you see me out and about, don’t hesitate to stop by for a chat!
