Mount Pleasant took delivery of a new 24P today.

The new Mount Pleasant 24P is based on a 2023 Isuzu FTS 150-260 chassis, is 4 x 4 and carries 2000 litres of water.

It is fitted with a six speed Allison transmission & Allison retarder.

Built by Fraser Fire and Rescue, it is fitted with a Deutz BF4L2011W motor / Darley HE500 pump.

It includes additional safety features to protect firefighters, including a halo system (water deluge system) and an in-cab breathing system.

The new heavy appliances also include air conditioning vents for the crews in the rear seats, as well as those travelling in the front of the cab.

It comes fitted with an LED light bar and an Engel fridge, and equipped with a Milwaulkee chainsaw, Milwaulkee quick cut saw, Ramfan Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV) fan and a Tirfor winch.

It replaces the existing 23 year old Isuzu based Mount Pleasant 24P, which will be re-allocated to another brigade.

Thanks Emergency Media SA for the photo.

This week, Mount Pleasant CFS held their AGM. As it was a non-voting year, we had the privilege of welcoming guest speaker Nathan Watts on behalf of the CFS Foundation, who shared with us about the important work the Foundation does to support volunteers and their families.

The Mount Pleasant Brigade welcomed five new members this year, two of whom graduated from our Cadet Program to join the ranks of our operational firefighters. The Brigade attended 87 jobs throughout the financial year and had members participate in several campaign fire deployments, including Tooperang and Deep Creek.

We had some very worthy award winners this year, with the Roger Grigg Memorial Firefighter of the Year Award going to Lieutenant Peter Phaup, for his exceptional dedication to the Brigade. This includes his coordination of our Cadet Program, dedication to supporting Brigade training, and mentoring of other firefighters. A very well-deserved recognition of his service to the Brigade.

Firefighters recognised for five years of service specifically to the Mount Pleasant Brigade, and who had their names added to the Peter Lintern Memorial Board, include Lieutenant Peter Phaup, Lieutenant Daniel Mamerow, Firefighter Bonita Skein, Firefighter Jacqueline Ann Roehl, Firefighter Kym Loechel, and BOS Barby Hoff. Peter, Bonita, and Jacqui were also awarded their 5 Year Service Certificates from the SA CFS.

BOS Karen Jamieson was presented with her SA CFS 10 Year Medal. Karen has dedicated many years to the service of the Mount Pleasant Brigade, since joining in 2015. She has served our Brigade as a dedicated BOS, providing radio and reporting support, as well as spending time in both the Catering Coordinator and Finance Officer roles.

The Mount Pleasant Brigade also celebrated receiving the "Most Improved Training Record" award at the Barossa Group AGM. Congratulations to every firefighter for their dedication not only to attending incidents, but also to the time spent upskilling and training. Every moment counts, and makes for better prepared, more highly skilled first responders for our community. A special thanks to our training team for all their hard work.

There was a minor update to the Brigade leadership team, with one of our long-serving members moving out of the area. Senior Firefighter Emily du Bruyn is stepping up to Lieutenant and officially taking on the Brigade Training Coordinator role.

We thank each of our members, and their families, for the ongoing and vital support they provide to the Mount Pleasant community, and further afield through deployments and other service opportunities.

Special thanks to our Brigade Captain, David Ross, for his excpetional leadership and support. We look forward to another phenomenal year with our team πŸ”₯

This morning our Mount Pleasant CFS Cadets were proud to take part in the flag raising at the annual Mount Pleasant Progress Association Australia Day Breakfast. It was a special moment for our young members to be involved in a community tradition and represent the brigade.

A big thank you to the Mount Pleasant Progress Association for hosting another wonderful event, and to everyone who came along to celebrate Australia Day and support our town. Events like these are a great reminder of the strength, pride and connection that make Mount Pleasant such a special place to live.

We’re grateful to be part of such a supportive community.

πŸŽ„ Mount Pleasant CFS at the Christmas Parade! πŸŽ„

On the weekend, the Mount Pleasant CFS, proudly led by our dedicated Cadets, had the privilege of taking part in the annual Mount Pleasant Christmas Parade and Street Party. We had a fantastic time connecting with our community and sharing in the festive spirit.

Following the parade, our baked potato stand was a huge success, helping raise much-appreciated funds for the brigade.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported us, whether you cheered from the sidelines or lined up for dinner. Your support means the world to us! πŸš’β€οΈ

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT from Mt Pleasant CFS πŸš’

The Fire Danger Season for the Mt Lofty Ranges (of which Mt Pleasant is a part of) has commenced πŸ”₯

This community announcement is the notification that fire siren testing will move to weekly as of 9 December, at approximately 7.00 pm every Tuesday πŸ“’

Please let your friends and family who are not on social media know of both the commencement of the Fire Danger Season and the commencement of weekly siren testing.

Siren testing is done in accordance with CFS policy. The format of the test will be 3 blasts of the siren in a 1-0-1 configuration. The first blast will be short (approximately 2-3 seconds after wind up) followed by a long blast (approximately 5 seconds) followed by a short blast (2-3 seconds).

The purpose of the siren is to alert and call firefighters to the station if the primary source of emergency notification is inoperative. Secondly, a long continuous siren is to warn the community that the town is in imminent danger of being impacted by fire.

Without regular testing, the CFS siren has been known to seize (see the previous Mt Pleasant CFS post). Testing is therefore part of regular maintenance. Replacing the siren if this damage occurs is not financially viable as station sirens across the state are not funded, repaired or replaced by the SACFS.

This announcement is also a timely reminder for members of the community to review and update their bushfire safety plans, and in times of emergency to monitor an official source of emergency warning information for detailed updates during events such as fires:

βœ… CFS website: www.cfs.sa.gov.au
βœ… Alert SA app
βœ… Bushfire Information Hotline: 1800 362 361 (TTY 133 677)
βœ… Facebook: SA Country Fire Service and SA Country Fire Service Updates
βœ… Instagram:
βœ… X (Twitter): and
βœ… CFS email bushfire subscription service
βœ… Radio: ABC Local Radio (891 AM)
βœ… TV: ABC News 24

⚠️Do not rely on a single source for emergency warning information ⚠️

The siren is NOT a trigger for community evacuation. If the siren is sounded in one long continuous blast, follow the advice provided by the published emergency information.

Thank you

πŸ”₯ Kicking Off Fire Danger Season with Readiness in Mind πŸ”₯

Tonight, our Mount Pleasant CFS crew hit the ground running with a timely training session focused on roadside grass fires and asset protection. Members worked seamlessly together through a full start-to-finish exercise, simulating a real incident from first response to wrap-up.

At Mount Pleasant CFS, we train like we play, so when the call comes, we’re ready to protect our community.

A big thank you to our friends at the Friends of Cromer School for generously allowing us to train on their grounds.
