🎃🚒 MUDGEE!, LET’S GET THIS LOLLY RUN ROLLING! 🍬👻

Our Halloween Lolly Run is back on 31 October 2026, from 5pm ’til late!

Our trucks have plenty of horsepower, but we need your help with the lolly power! 🍬😂

Calling all local businesses: we’re seeking donations of bagged lollies to help make this year’s run a treat for our community.

Mudgee is growing, and this event gets bigger every year. A few bags or a whole box, every donation helps fill those trick-or-treat buckets! 🎃

As a thank you, supporting businesses will have their logo included on our final route map, shared with the community, plus a sponsor shoutout on our page!

📩 Message us here if your business would like to donate.

Please share this post and tag a business that might like to help. Let’s give Mudgee’s little ghosts, witches and superheroes a Halloween to remember! 👻🚒

🔥 Bush Fire Danger Period Starts Tomorrow!

If you’re planning to burn off in the Cudgegong District, you’ll need a Fire Permit during the Bush Fire Danger Period. You must also notify the fire authority and your adjoining neighbours at least 24 hours before lighting up.

A permit doesn’t mean you can burn in any conditions. Check the weather, your permit conditions and whether a Total Fire Ban is in place before you light a fire.

Now’s also a good time to prepare your property and talk with your family: What’s your bush fire plan, and when will you leave?

Need a permit? Message us here to get in contact with a Permit Officer, or contact the Cudgegong Fire Control Centre on 02 6370 9800 during business hours. More information: https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/BFDP

If a fire escapes, call Triple Zero (000) immediately. Serious consequences and Heavy Fines apply!

Prepare. Act. Survive. 🔥

“I have a feeling we’re not in K̶a̶n̶s̶a̶s̶ Mudgee anymore…” 🚒

Yesterday, Firefighter Ethan from Mudgee HQ and Firefighter Robert from Cooyal made the trip from our Cudgegong District to the base camp in Tenterfield. They travelled alongside crews from Chifley/Lithgow and Canobolas before heading to the Donnybrook Fire Trail fire.

They’ll be giving local crews a well-earned break while helping with clean-up and mopping-up operations.

A big thank you to Grattai Brigade for lending us their truck for the roughly 1,000 km round trip. It’s already proving its worth, helping the crew reach places the heavy tankers can’t access.

Stay safe up there, Ethan, Robert and everyone on the fireground! 👨‍🚒🔥

🔥 GRASS FIRE – MENAH 🚒

Shortly after 4:00pm this afternoon, Mudgee HQ was paged to reports of a grass fire burning alongside the Castlereagh Highway at Menah.

On arrival, crews found a running grass fire that had spread from the roadside into a nearby paddock, burning approximately one hectare. Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further through the surrounding grass and bushland.

One lane of the highway was temporarily closed while crews brought the fire under control and completed mop up operations. The road has since reopened and all crews have cleared the scene.

A great combined effort by all responding NSW RFS brigades, Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Police. Thank you to motorists for slowing down and giving emergency crews room to work safely.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

🚨 Ever wondered what happens when the pager goes off?

For most people, it might just be a fire truck you see heading down the road with the lights and sirens going.

But there’s a bit that happens before you see us.

When a callout comes through, our members receive a page with the initial details of the incident and where we’re needed.

From there, our volunteers drop what they’re doing and make their way safely and promptly to the station. Once everyone arrives, it’s into the trucks, crews are organized, the job is discussed and within minutes we’re rolling out the door.

And we never really know what that next page might be for.

🔥 Grass or bush fires
🏠 Structure fires
🚗 Motor vehicle accidents
🤝 Assisting other emergency services
🚒 Plus plenty of other incidents where our crews may be required.

Every truck you see heading out from Mudgee HQ has a crew of volunteers onboard who, only minutes earlier, could have been at work, at home, eating dinner or spending time with their family.

Here’s a little behind the scenes look at what happens between the pager goes off and the truck are rolling out the shed.

🔥🎰 FINAL DAY AT CHAMPS! 🎰🔥

And just like that, our three day adventure at the NSW RFS State Championships has come to an end!

There were three final events standing between us and the finish line:

🚒 Fireground Fundamentals
🌈 Neon Nights Triple Challenge
🎲 High Stakes, Low Brakes

Although we didn’t crack the top three, we couldn’t be happier with how the team performed. Some events tested our skills, patience and ability to remain calm under pressure, while others tested whether we could complete a task without collapsing from laughter. 😂

Fireground Fundamentals also required us to perform a trending dance or emote. Naturally, we chose the “Bring It Around” Fortnite emote. The photo is embarrassing enough and we can confirm the video footage does absolutely nothing to improve the situation. 💃🕺🔥

Before heading off for lunch, we also managed to intercept Commissioner Trent Curtin for a quick photo. Thankfully, he didn’t ask to see our dancing again after watching us the first time! 📸

No podium finish this time, but we’re heading home with plenty of laughs, great memories, new experiences and possibly a permanent ban from performing Fortnite dances in public.

A massive thank you to everyone who organised, volunteered, judged and supported this incredible event and to every team that made the championships such a brilliant three days.

🎰🚒 Day Two Done and Dusted in DubVegas!

Another massive day completed, and somehow the team is still standing! Today’s highly classified activities included:

🎲 The House Always Wins
🎸 Rock ’n’ Roll Dub Vegas
🏜️ Grand Canyon Party
🏆 Dub Vegas Open
👽 Area 51: Out of This World
🍝 Green Spaghetti Dreaming

We laughed, competed and discovered that what happens in Dub Vegas stays in Dub Vegas… mainly because the paperwork has now been classified. 👀

We’d love to show you everything we got up to, but not all photos can be released due to strict confidentiality agreements between our team, Area 51 and several unidentified personnel. 👽🛸

Tonight it’s time to swap the competition gear for something slightly more respectable and head off for a well earned group dinner at the RFS Academy Awards! 🏆🎬

🔥 Day One Done in DubVegas! 🎰

Everyone has settled into their rooms and is getting some well earned rest before the competition kicks off tomorrow.

This afternoon, we proudly walked together in the opening ceremony and, of course, couldn’t resist stopping by an iconic DubVegas signs along the way back to the academy! 📸

The team is excited, spirits are high, and we’re ready to give it our best tomorrow. Let the Championships begin! 🚒🏆

Tomorrow the NSW RFS State Championships will be live throughout the day and posting videos of the events. Be sure to check them out!
