2027 School Captains
Today we interviewed some of our year 11 students who have applied become our School Captains for 2027. The students did a wonderful job talking about why they wanted to be a School Captain and what they would do for the school as a leader and role model for their peers. They should all be very proud of their efforts. A big thank you to our panel including Karen from the P&C and Adam from Uniting Church Op Shop (one of our community partners).

As part of their Certificate I coursework, our Senior Students organised the “Favourite Colour Day” last term. Today, our School Co-Captains presented a cheque of money raised from this event to our P&C. Well done everyone, a fantastic effort!

Somerset Sporting Adventures
Lower Junior Secondary has been so lucky to attend Somerset College each Wednesday, where our students have been learning a variety of sporting games and skills alongside the Year 9 students. These sessions have been a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn new skills, challenge themselves and build confidence in a supportive environment. It has been fantastic to see their enthusiasm grow each week as they eagerly look forward to their Wednesday adventures.

One of the highlights of this experience has been the meaningful connections our students have formed with the Somerset students. The friendships and relationships that have developed have been truly special. The Year 9 students have been incredibly encouraging, patient and welcoming, helping our students feel included and valued.

These connections were evident when many Somerset students expressed excitement about our recent concert and even came along to support and cheer on our students. It was wonderful to see such genuine encouragement and community spirit. We are incredibly grateful for this partnership and look forward to many more sporting adventures and friendship-building opportunities in the future.

Senior School Information Night – Tues 13 Oct 5:30-6:30pm
This night is primarily for the families of our graduating students. It will provide information on about the upcoming graduation evening, assembly and schoolies camp. Please RSVP if you would like to attend in person or online via teams.

Over the year, our teachers have been participating in Professional Learning Community (PLC) groups to develop their knowledge and practices in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), Reading, P&SC (Personal & Social Capability) and AI (Artificial Intelligence). As knowledgeable others, the key learnings from each PLC were shared back to entire teacher group yesterday.

At Mudgeeraba Special School we take pride in creating mutually beneficial partnerships with businesses and organisations in the community. Recently, we participated in Aruma's Stronger Together community event sharing how these partnerships support our students to make positive and meaningful transitions into post-school life.

We invite families to the Raising Hope Chaplaincy Fundraising Dinner on the 19th of October. It is an evening of celebration, community and live entertainment to support the work of School Chaplains across the greater Gold Coast.
