Our brigade is currently recruiting for volunteer firefighters to join our team of men and women!

We would love members of our community to share these posts so we can reach as many people as possible!

Come chat with your local brigade, pick up some handy bushfire safety tips, and make sure your household plan is ready for the season ahead. See you there! 💪

Update…Road is now open at 3.30 pm.

Gulgan Road is closed at Everitts Hill at Uncle Toms.
If you want to head south from Mullum, you will need to go left at Uncle Toms towards Brunswick Heads to get onto the highway

🔥🔥 CANE BURNING AROUND MULLUMBIMBY THIS EVENING Saturday 5th September 🔥

Cane farmers will be conducting further controlled burns this evening, with burns around Myocum Road, Wards Landscapes and the Golf Club area. You may also see smoke and fire through Barry Lomath Oval.

These burns are controlled and planned, and the smoke and flames will be visible from around town.

🚒 Please DO NOT call Triple Zero (000) to report these burns.

On Thursday evening, our volunteers were called out to several reports made through Triple Zero. While we understand that seeing smoke or fire can be concerning, when these reports come through Triple Zero, our volunteers are required to respond — even when the fire is a known, controlled cane burn.

Unnecessary call-outs take our volunteers away from their families and other commitments, and can also impact our availability to respond to genuine emergencies.

If you see the cane burns around town this evening, please be reassured that they are controlled burns and are expected to be visible.

Thank you for helping us keep our volunteers available for when they are genuinely needed. ❤️‍🚒

This will be visible from all around town.
THIS IS A CONTROLLED BURN. PLEASE DO NOT RING IT INTO TRIPLE ZERO.

Cane farmers are currently burning cane on Mullumbimby Road and will be again around 6pm tomorrow (Wednesday)
Please do not ring these in to Triple Zero….They ARE controlled burns and the Cane farmers notify the brigade that they will be burning
