We are open between 9.30 and 1pm and would love to see you ! Locals, visitors and kids welcome !

- learn about children’s activities with our Junior Fire Brigade suitable for 11-16 years old

Creating a fire plan is one of the simplest things you can do to help protect your family this fire season. Write it down or talk it through and make sure everyone knows what to do this fire season.

Every brigade has its own veterans. Men and women who have done the hard yards. They might not all be tech savvy, but can add stability and knowledge to any situation.

On International Day of Older Persons, we're recognising the older CFA volunteers who share their knowledge, guide future generations and help keep communities safe. 🤝

We spoke to some members from the Wyndham Vale brigade and learnt that when every generation has a seat at the table, our brigades are stronger for it.

🚒 CFA MURCHISON FIRE BRIGADE 🚒

Is pleased to announce a
COMMUNITY OPEN DAY

WHERE - at our Robinson Street, Murchison Fire Station

WHEN - Sunday 18th October 2027

TIME - 9.30 am until 1pm

WHY - we would like to show you our recently refurbished Fire Station and at the same time give visitors the opportunity to ask any questions they may have about this coming fire season or fire safety in general.
With the fire season fast approaching our highly trained volunteers are eager to help you prepare your house or property for fire emergencies. Our CFA sponsored ‘GET FIRE READY’ programme is once again active for 2026 and we are able to help with this by giving sound advice. For instance we can help you prepare a fire plan, an activity in which the whole family can be involved, and don’t forget your pets or livestock.

Some points you might like to consider in view of the coming season

- is my property clear of excess vegetation growth, especially around the house and shedding ? Are my gutterings clean and debris free ?
- has my property an additional water storage source for instance a dam or large water tank ? If a tank, has it been fitted with a CFA suction connection to allow tankers access to firefighting water ?
- is my property clearly numbered so as to be identifiable easily ?
- is my driveway wide enough to allow an emergency vehicle to access ?
- can an emergency vehicle turn around and exit or leave the property via another exit ?
- how do I summon help if needed ?

These are just some of the ‘food for thought’ questions we can help with and also offer advice as to the availability of self help apps such as Vic Emergency and MyCFA both of which are easily accessible by phone.

The fear of fire is very real, and we at CFA will help to put it into context and advise you of the best method of Getting Fire Ready.

Although the subject is serious, come in and join us in a laugh over a cuppa and a snag cooked by our members. A point to remember is, get in early before the crew get hungry 😎

One final point. We are looking for volunteers and will probably ask you, however there is no obligation. Keeping the community safe is our priority and you could certainly help us with that.

All are welcome on the day, we have lots to show you and talk about so get in early. Bring the family and ask about our Murchison Junior Fire Brigade which is suitable for 11-16 year olds. It’s not about fighting fires but having a lot of fun in a team environment. Kids love it !
