โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿš’ Mildura Airport Training Exercise ๐Ÿš’โœˆ๏ธ

Last night the Nangiloc tanker participated in a quite unusual and rare training exercise, something that itโ€™s never been apart of before.

Our Tanker was apart of the 2026 Mildura Airport Moc Emergency Simulation Plane Crash Training Exercise that takes part every two year.

Our tanker was crewed by 1 Nangiloc member been our 3rd Lieutenant Troy Peirce who was the driver of the truck and then a fellow 4 members from Red Cliffs who assisted in making sure our truck was fully crewed for the exercise.

While our tanker was at the exercise we still made sure we had adequate fire fighting capability within the community of Nangiloc and surrounds๏ฟผ and were fortunate enough to have the D18 spare tanker step up to our station while we were out.

This exercise allows crews from all emergency services agencies to work together as one and know how to deal with this form of incident if one was to ever occur here at the airport.

The simulation was a passenger aircraft that had made a crash landing missing the runway and had split in half with reports of up to 80 people on board.

Fire Rescue Victoria firefighters from Fire Station 072 (Mildura) responded with there Pumper and Pumper Platform and took control of the initial incident until the fire was suppressed and any risk of hazmat had been cleared and made safe.

Mildura Tanker, Merbein Tanker & Nangiloc Tanker supplied water to the Pumper Platform while Irymple Tanker crews assisted with BA operations in suppressing the fire.

Once the scene was declared safe fire fighters from all brigades assisted SES and Ambulance Victoria in extrication of casualties from the aircraft over to the triage area then onto the airports main hangar where St Jhonโ€™s and the Red Cross were waiting to assist.

Victoria Police were also in attendance coordinating the incident and assisting identifying passengers that had been on board the aircraft.

Thankfully enough all passengers were accounted for.

Exercises like this are highly important to allow our crews to train and prepare for the real thing if it was to ever happen.

A big thanks to all the volunteers within the community who signed up to act as passengers on board the aircraft and another big thanks to all emergency service crews who were in attendance;

CALL-OUT @ 06:02
LOCATION: Calder Highway (North Bound) Carwarp

Early this morning the Nangiloc Fire Brigade along with Red Cliffs Fire Brigade, Carwarp Fire Brigade & FRV Fire Station 72 were paged to reports of a vehicle on fire on the side of the road near the train trucks along the Calder Highway.

Irymple Pumper (Irymple Fire Brigade) responded in placement of Red Cliffs as the Red Cliffs brigade were committed at a structure fire within the township of Red Cliffs. Pumper 72 responded to assist from Fire Station 72.

Both Nangiloc and Carwarp tankers responded a few minutes later. Irymple Pumper was first on scene and established control and started extinguishing the vehicle utilising breathing apparatus they carry on there truck.

FRV P72 was notified that they could cancel and return with sufficient CFA resources on scene and they headed back into town. Nangiloc tanker supplied Irymple Pumper with water before the tanker crew departed the scene.

There was no impact to the train line nor the road infrastructure on the highway. Victoria Police attended the scene and all CFA appliances departed and headed home.

๐Ÿš’ EXCITING NEWS FOR NANGILOC FIRE BRIGADE! ๐Ÿš’

You may have noticed a shiny new tanker getting around Nangiloc and the surrounding areas lately, and weโ€™re very excited to say that our new Nangiloc Tanker has officially arrived and is now online!

While the tanker has already made a few appearances out and about at local events, last Sunday marked the official handover, with our brigade receiving the keys to our new appliance.

Since its arrival, our members have been working hard behind the scenes, completing familiarisation and training to make sure everyone is confident and ready to operate the new tanker safely and effectively. Weโ€™re pleased to announce that the training is complete and our new tanker is officially online and ready to respond!

Our new tanker brings a range of modern features and improvements to the brigade that our old truck did not have!

Of course, welcoming a new truck also means saying goodbye to an old friend.

Our old Nangiloc Tanker has served our brigade and community extremely well, responding to countless incidents and helping our members protect the community over many years. There are plenty of memories attached to that truck, so it is certainly sad to see it leave Nangiloc.

Thankfully, itโ€™s not the end of the road for the old girl! Sheโ€™s heading to a good home at Mittyack Fire Brigade, where sheโ€™ll continue serving CFA volunteers and the community for years to come.

A massive thank you to everyone involved in getting our new tanker to Nangiloc, and particularly to our members who have put in the time to train and become familiar with the new appliance.

So, if you see the new Nangiloc Tanker out and about, make sure you give our crew a wave!

๐Ÿ๏ธ๐Ÿš’ Hattah Desert Race Weekend ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ๏ธ

The iconic Hattah Desert Race is on again this weekend, and weโ€™d like to welcome all competitors, crews and spectators to our region.

With a large number of people travelling to and from the event, we ask everyone to please take extra care on our roads, be patient, and drive to the conditions.

As always, Nangiloc Fire Brigade volunteers will be ready to assist our community and emergency services partners if required throughout the weekend.

A few friendly reminders:
โ€ข Obey all road closures and event signage.
โ€ข Be mindful of dust and reduced visibility on local roads.
โ€ข Keep clear access for emergency vehicles at all times.
โ€ข If camping, ensure campfires and cooking equipment are used safely and comply with any fire restrictions.

We hope everyone enjoys a fantastic and safe Hattah Desert Race weekend. Good luck to all the riders, and thank you to the many volunteers and emergency service personnel helping make the event possible.

Stay safe and enjoy the racing! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๏ธ๐Ÿš’

๐Ÿ”ฅ COMMUNITY BBQ THANK YOU ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Last Sunday, the Nangiloc Fire Brigade was proud to be invited to the Big Thank You Community BBQ, giving our community the opportunity to come together following the Colignan/Hattah Fire and acknowledge the incredible efforts of everyone involved.

We would like to sincerely thank all community members who came along to show their support, share a meal, and spend time with our volunteers. The overwhelming support shown to our firefighters and emergency services personnel means more than words can express.

A special thank you goes to all the firefighters, support crews, emergency service agencies, neighbouring brigades, local businesses, and community members who played a role during the fire. The response to the incident was a true demonstration of what can be achieved when communities and emergency services work together.

It was fantastic to see so many people take the time to stop by, have a chat with our members, learn more about what we do, and inspect some of the equipment and vehicles on display. We were also excited to unveil our latest addition, which received plenty of interest and positive feedback throughout the day.

Events like these remind us how fortunate we are to be part of such a supportive and resilient community. Thank you for standing behind your local volunteers and for continuing to support the CFA and emergency services.

๐Ÿ“ธ If you attended the day, feel free to share your photos in the comments!
