๐จ PLEASE HELP KEEP OUR FIREFIGHTERS SAFE ๐จ
When you see emergency service vehicles stopped on the side of the road with red, blue or magenta lights flashing, please remember โ there are people working around those vehicles.

In Victoria, motorists must slow to 40 km/h when passing stationary or slow-moving emergency or enforcement vehicles displaying flashing lights, and only increase speed again once you are safely past.
For our members at Napoleons-Enfield Fire Brigade, the roadside can be one of the most dangerous places we work. We may be dealing with a crash, fire, fallen tree, hazardous material, traffic control or simply trying to protect someone who needs help.
At night, in poor weather or on high-speed roads, a vehicle approaching too fast gives us very little time to react.
โ ๏ธ When approaching an emergency scene:
โ
Slow down early
โ
Reduce your speed to 40 km/h
โ
Give emergency personnel as much space as possible
โ
Follow any directions from firefighters, police or traffic controllers
โ
Stay focused โ put the phone down
โ
Donโt stop to take photos or video
โ
Only speed up again once you are safely clear of the scene
Weโre volunteers. Weโre your neighbours, friends, workmates, mums, dads, sons and daughters โ and after every call-out, we want to get home safely to our families too.
Slow down. Move over where safe. Pay attention.
A few extra seconds of your trip could prevent a tragedy.
๐ Help us help you โ and help keep our emergency service members safe.
