It’s World Cotton Day 🤍🌱

You might know the Narrabri Region as cotton country, but there’s much more to our cotton story than fields of white.

🌱 Wee Waa is known as the Cotton Capital of Australia, with cotton deeply woven into the town’s history.

🔬 100% of Australia’s cotton crop is currently grown from CSIRO-bred varieties, with cotton breeding research happening right here in the region in partnership with Cotton Seed Distributors and the Department of Primary Industries.

🚜 And you can get a little closer to the story yourself. The Narrabri Region Visitor Information Centre has a genuine, life-size cotton picker inside the building, and yes, visitors can climb into the cab!

Cotton isn’t just something grown here. It’s woven into the story of our region.

So… apparently the rest of the world found out about us today. 👀🐌

But around here, we’ve been playing cat and mouse with the locals for years.

Some claim to have seen us.
Some think we look like aliens.
Some reckon we’re nothing more than a local legend.

We know the truth. 😉

But seeing one for yourself?

Well, you might just have to come to the Narrabri Region and try your luck. 💗
