The Nedlands and Mt Claremont Libraries are closed today, Monday 1 June for WA Day. Both libraries will reopen at 9am on Tuesday 2 June.

Due to unforseen circumstances, the Mt Claremont library will be closing at 4pm this afternoon.

🎊 Story Time 🎊

There's so many holidays and celebrations from all around the world that we celebrate in Australia and this week we'll be learning about some of them!

We've got books to read about lots of different celebrations, all our favourite songs to sing, and a mini book, about seven popular celebrations, to colour in and take home!

🌟 National Volunteer Week 🌟

This year’s theme - Your Year to Volunteer - celebrates the power of giving back and the people who make our community stronger every day. We’re excited to shine a light on some of the incredible volunteers who bring heart, energy, and kindness to the City of Nedlands.

Meet Amelia, our first volunteer feature, and a wonderful example of what community spirit looks like. Amelia has been volunteering at Nedlands Library Service since January 2025, where she facilitates monthly Dungeons & Dragons sessions. For her, D&D is more than a game, it’s a space for imagination, choice, and storytelling that helps people understand themselves and the world around them.

She believes play is something we often lose as we grow older, and volunteers "because I know what it feels like to be unsure or alone, and I want others, especially the next generation, to have a place where they feel welcome. Once a month, the library becomes that space for guidance, creativity, and community".

🎟️ Author Talk - Bums on Seats with Ron Banks 🎟️

Join Ron Banks, former arts editor of The West Australian, as he talks about his new book - Bums on Seats: An unofficial history of theatre in WA.

He will focus on playwrights and directors, notable productions by local companies and the creation of WAAPA. Ron has spent more than three decades as a journalist and has reviewed hundreds of productions.

🐼 Story Time 🐼

This week our Story Time is all about a giant animal who loves to eat bamboo. If you haven’t guessed it yet the theme this week is PANDAS!

We have panda themed books to read, songs to sing and even a fun panda themed craft activity.

Join us at Mt Claremont Library on Thursday at 10.30am. It will be a pandemonium if you miss it.

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mums and grandmothers out there that come to our libraries and take time to read with their children and grandchildren.

🍿 Mother's Day Sunday Screening 🍿

This Sunday is Mother's Day so why not celebrate at Nedlands Library with a special Sunday Screening?

Join us on Sunday 10 May at 2pm where we will be screening a fun family-friendly film with snacks provided.

Parental supervision is required for children 15 years and younger; please ask library staff ahead of time if you'd like to know the title of the film being screened.

Nedlands and Mt Claremont Libraries are closed for the ANZAC Day Monday public.

The libraries are reopening tomorrow, Tuesday 28 April at 9am.
