It’s almost that time again. Pumpkin day!!

Join us on the 31st of October for our annual Halloween Event.

Not one but two haunted houses with plenty of chocolate for all.

And while you’re running around town stopping at all the houses, stop in for a snag and a drink at our sausage sizzle.

We can’t wait to scare you!!!

💨 Damaging winds forecast - secure it before the wind finds it

Damaging wind gusts are forecast to affect parts of Tasmania from Sunday, with conditions potentially continuing into Monday in some areas.

Now is the time to prepare your property:
✅ Secure outdoor furniture, trampolines and play equipment
✅ Bring loose items undercover or tie them down
✅ Park vehicles away from trees where possible
✅ Charge phones and essential devices

Strong winds can turn everyday items into dangerous projectiles. A few minutes spent preparing today could help prevent damage tomorrow.

While you're at it, check in with family, friends and neighbours to make sure they're aware of the forecast.

➡️Be prepared and keep up-to-date with:

Day 2 of RCR training completed!

For one participant, the timing was perfect, with her first major rescue call coming in straight after Day 1.

Over the weekend, 9 operators worked on 5 vehicles, building their skills and having a great time doing it. A big thank you to all our trainers, instructors, volunteers and participants for another fantastic training weekend.

We finished with a bang, deploying airbags for some hands-on learning (videos in the comments).

🚗 Got a vehicle you could donate? Our team is always looking for cars to help train and refine rescue skills. Send us a message if you can help.

🚗 Road Crash Rescue Training - Day 1

Today, our newest members got stuck into their Road Crash Rescue training, learning the fundamentals of vehicle rescue through plenty of hands-on practice.

What started with basic tool familiarisation soon escalated into the complete destruction of two unsuspecting cars!

The crew paused only long enough for afternoon tea and a birthday celebration before getting straight back into cutting, spreading, and learning.

Tomorrow brings simulated casualties and more realistic rescue scenarios as the team continues sharpening the skills they'll need when real emergencies happen.

Great effort from everyone involved! 👏🚨

⚠️ AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.

It will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches, we need to test the system across Australia.

‼️ On Monday 27 July, your mobile devices, such as mobile phones, tablets and smart watches, may receive a test alert.

The test times across Australian time zones are:
• 2:00 pm AEST (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS)
• 1:30 pm ACST (SA, NT, Broken Hill NSW)
• 12:00 pm AWST (WA)

The message will vibrate and include a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds.

If this could disrupt you or cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time in your location, and leave them off for at least one hour.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything, but in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

🚨 Join us tomorrow at Dark NorFo! 🚨

Ever wondered what SES Rescue looks like up close?

Come along for our RCR Demo kicking off at 6:30pm — see the gear, check out the techniques, and meet the volunteers who keep the community safe. It’s hands-on, a bit noisy, and always a good time 🔧🚗

Bring a mate, bring the family, and come have a look at what we do.

💡 Keen to get involved? We’re always looking for more legends to join the team:
