💛 Grandparents Day at Islington

What a wholesome morning! Thank you to all the grandparents who joined us today, whether you live just around the corner or travelled from afar to spend time with us.

A special thank you to those who not only shared the morning with your own grandchildren but also extended your time, conversations and care to other children, making sure everyone had a special grandparent to share the experience with. 💛

We say it all the time, but Islington, you just show up for our kids. You make our school a place where children feel known, supported and nurtured, and we are so grateful for the way you show up, not just for your own children and grandchildren, but for our whole school community.

Thank you for making this morning so special. 🥰

Our K–2 Talent Development Group was busy crafting before school in Thursday morning! ✂️

With the help of some wonderful mums, students made their own pom-poms while developing fine motor skills, concentration and creativity through hands-on learning.

It’s great to see our youngest learners making the most of these opportunities before the school day begins. 💛

🇨🇳 Mandarin with Shulan! ❤️

Our Mandarin Talent Development Group is so popular that the students are bursting to get to school for the 8:30am start!

As part of our High Potential Gifted Education program, students are enthusiastically developing their language skills and exploring Chinese culture.

Shulan’s grandchildren attend Islington, and through this connection, she has become a much-loved part of our school family. Her warmth and care have made her a much-loved part of our Islington family, and it’s lovely to see our students so comfortable and connected with her. ❤️

We’re so lucky to have Shulan sharing her knowledge, culture and time with our students!

Did you know that each week we host a different scavenger hunt in our playground? 🔎

This week, Ms Bailey organised a mindfulness hunt, encouraging our students to slow down, look around and take notice of the little things. 🌼

What a sweet way to bring a little calm, curiosity and mindfulness into the school day! ✨

🧹✨ Thank your Cleaner Day! ✨🧹

Today we’re saying a big thank you to Riddah, our wonderful school cleaner!

Riddah does an amazing job keeping Islington Public School clean, welcoming and ready for our students and staff each day. Her work is often unseen, but it makes such an important difference to our school.

We also value the friendly way Riddah works with our staff and students and the care she takes in everything she does. 💙

Riddah’s high-quality work is recognised by her supervisors, and she is now helping to train new cleaning staff as they prepare to work across other school sites — a wonderful recognition of her skills and the pride she takes in her work.
