What a thrill to get hands-on with rugby and learn a few tricks from Wallabies superstar player Joseph Suaalii! I had a fantastic time throwing the ball around with Joseph and getting a taste of what it takes to play at the highest level. A huge thanks to rugby.com.au CEO Phil Waugh, and the Wallabies for welcoming me behind the scenes on the sidelines of the Bledisloe Cup!
The energy, teamwork, and dedication on display were incredible - and we had a ton of fun along the way!
Sport has a unique ability to bring people together, and the U.S. and Australia share a fantastic sporting connection. With exciting Rugby World Cups ahead in both our countries, there are plenty of opportunities to build on that connection and strengthen people-to-people ties, both on and off the field.

“I met with Jewish community leaders in Sydney this week to hear about their experiences since the Bondi terrorist attack and discuss the community’s priorities. We discussed security, combating antisemitism, and the forthcoming Royal Commission report. President Donald J. Trump has been clear that his administration would take continual, forceful steps to fight the scourge of antisemitism; U.S. Department of State Secretary Rubio has called that fight “more urgent than ever.” And as our Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism Ambassador Rabbi Kaploun reminds us ‘…antisemitism is all over the world. It’s virtually in every country, and the role requires that State Department be actively involved in protecting the religious liberty not just of American citizens but religious liberty that we believe is a belief in freedom of speech, freedom of action, freedom of religion for everywhere, for everybody.’

“We stand in solidarity with the Jewish community – there can be no compromise with antisemitism.” – Amb Brat

“Hey Australia – what a way to experience my first sporting event! It was fantastic to be at Grand Final night in Sydney and see firsthand how sports bring people together. It was a treat to meet so many people, including the ball kids, NRL General Manager Marketing John Vellis, and UFC World Champion Carlos . Ulberg The Sydney Roosters and Newcastle Knights brought everything you want to a close championship game: intensity on the field, energy in the stands, and passionate fans who make this sport so fun and special. Count me in – I'm a fan!” - Amb Brat

Honoring Heroes: Celebrating America’s 250 with Our First Responder Partners
Two nations, one shared mission. In the spirit of America’s 250th birthday, U.S. Consul General Jeremy Cornforth honored the incredible first responders who keep us safe across the Pacific. He welcomed representatives from Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC), the Australian Federal Police, New South Wales Police Force, Queensland Police, Fire and Rescue New South Wales, and members of the Diplomatic Law Enforcement Attaché Community in Sydney. We recognize the vital partnership between U.S. and Australian first responders — supporting Americans here in Australia and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with us overseas in service of our shared security interests. From the streets of Sydney to communities across the United States, this is what partnership looks like — first responders building trust, one mission, one community at a time. 🇺🇸🇦🇺

ICYMI: The U.S. Coast Guard works with Pacific partners to assist in patrolling and managing their own waters. The Ship Rider program is a key part of a much larger program of genuine engagement and the Harriet Lane recently pulled into Cairns to resupply after conducting some of this important work in Fiji. Commanding Officer Justin Matejka took us through it. 🇺🇸🇦🇺

North West Queensland: Where Rodeo Spirit and Critical Minerals Meet. From standing behind the bucking chute at the rodeo to witnessing mining operations over 1 km underground, the cowboys and cowgirls, miners, businesses, elected leaders, and everyday people of north west Queensland shared with U.S. Consul General Jeremy Cornforth a warm welcome and their pride in this beautiful part of Australia. The Mount Isa rodeo was an authentic showcase of country culture and another layer in the rich connections between the United States and Australia. Site visits and discussions along the region’s mining corridor in Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Julia Creek, and Townsville reinforced the strong and growing U.S.-Australia collaboration on critical minerals and secure supply chains, which are driving innovation and the technologies powering the modern economy. 🇺🇸🇦🇺 Mount Isa Mines Rodeo

Critical minerals are exactly that - critical - for our phones, cars, tech, defense, energy and so much more. We’ve been travelling through north west Queensland this week to learn how Australia is building this vital industry and how the U.S. and Australia can work together to secure these supply chains for all of us. Thanks Queensland! 🇺🇸🇦🇺
