🎁 Meet Yaqin and Wilson.
In October last year, the owners of Auspicious Buddhist Art contacted Council to discuss their new business proposal. Their vision was to create a welcoming retail space offering a carefully curated range of high-quality, homemade, natural products, including incense, Buddhist statues, pure essential oils, singing bowls, crystal bracelets and more.
To ensure they had obtained all relevant approvals from Council, they worked closely with Council’s Business Support Advisor, who acts as a single point of contact for new and expanding businesses.
As the proposal required input from several regulatory teams, the Business Support Advisor coordinated the necessary information and guided the owners through each step of the process.
Auspicious Buddhist Art opened its doors just before Christmas and is proud to now be part of the Box Hill community.
🎉We wish Yaqin & Wilson every success as they continue to grow and thrive, and we encourage everyone to Think Local and Buy Local by visiting this wonderful new stores like Auspicious Buddhist Art at 535 Station St, Box Hill.
If you're starting a new business or expanding an existing one you can now connect with our Business Support Advisor.

At Waterman Workspaces, Shady is all about connection.
As Head of Community, and 9 years in, he’s the kind of person who turns a workspace into something much bigger. Think less office, more campus-style community where people genuinely support each other.
Before Waterman, Shady studied Commerce, dabbled in start-ups, helped build an app, and even taught music! Safe to say, he knows a thing or two about juggling ideas and making them happen.
💬 “Business is hard. Most don’t make it past the first few years. That’s why connection matters.”
Shady describes himself as a “walking LinkedIn”, connecting people, ideas, and opportunities. Because behind every business is a person who needs support, not just Wi-Fi.
And what does he love most about Mont Albert?
It’s the people. Friendly, welcoming, and always up for a chat, whether it’s in the office or out grabbing lunch.
For Shady, it’s simple. In a world where social media can feel “connected,” real connection still matters most.

This session provided the opportunity to explore practical, collaborative approaches to reduce waste and increase reuse across the MegaMile precinct, starting with mattresses and bedding.
Thanks to Bevmarks, Bedshed, Harvey Norman, Forty Winks , Sleep Collective and Snooze Nunawading who joined either online or in person.
A special thank you to Eastern Emergency Relief Network , whose incredible work supporting communities in need continues to make a real difference locally and beyond.
