The Bush Fire Danger Period has officially commenced for the North West Zone (Bogan Coonamble, Warren & Walgett LGAs). Permits are now required to undertake burning activities across the district 🔥

🔥Changes to Burn Notifications🔥

Following community feedback, the NSW RFS has removed the 21-day limit on Burn Notifications outside of the Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP).

This means you can now submit a Burn Notification for any length of time during non-BFDP, without having to renew every 21 days.

You will still need to notify your neighbours at least 24 hours prior to lighting up.

Nyngan HQ Brigade’s newest recruits responded to a report of a small scrub fire on Canonba Rd.

Upon arrival, crews found tree stumps alight on both sides of the road. The fire was quickly extinguished, and the area was made safe.

It’s crucial your home has working smoke alarms, as they provide an early warning and give you and your family valuable time to escape during a house fire.

With the cooler months approaching, please stay safe this winter. There are several simple steps you can take, such as creating a home escape plan, ensuring your smoke alarm is working and keeping all items at least a meter from the heater.

The Bush Fire Danger Period will conclude at midnight tonight for most of NSW, including Bogan, Coonamble, Walgett and Warren Local Government Area’s (LGA’s).
