Opening doors today so our students can own their tomorrow!

Our Inclusive Education students recently visited Barkuma to explore post-school transition pathways, inclusive employment opportunities, and community support options.

Through facility tours and connections with the Barkuma team, students gained valuable insights into workplace environments, independence, and career possibilities beyond school.

A sincere thank you to Barkuma for hosting such an inspiring and empowering transition experience!

On Thursday the 10th of September, students across Years 7-12 came together and put on a series of musical performances like no other for our school’s second Music Night for 2026.

Held between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm in our Performing Arts Centre, the Music Night featured dimmed lights that transformed the room into a colourful and electric haze.

The night itself was a clear example of the hard work and determination our students have put into their studies to ensure their pieces were performance ready.

From rock n’ roll hits to pop ballads, even a drum intro, there was something for everyone, with the audience singing along and grooving in their seats.

Instruments played included string, percussion and woodwind ensembles. From start to finish, the show was a delightful and energetic spectacle that dazzled the audience.

Our students bring a wide range of talent and diversity. It is wonderful to see them flourish and grow their skills at PGHS.

A big thank you to everyone involved in making the night a roaring success.

πŸ’™ FREE FOOD FOR LOCAL FAMILIES πŸ’™

We know some families within our school community are doing it tough, and we want to share every opportunity to connect you with services that can help. Our neighbours at Waypoint Uniting Church are hosting a Pantry Day providing families with some frozen meals, pantry items, as well as a coffee, a chat, and a welcoming place to connect.

Places are limited and families are asked to RSVP to the event to register. Please contact Alicia on 0451 247 917 by Wednesday 14 October to reserve your place for the next event.

As always, if you are experiencing challenges and need support, please contact the school to speak to your child's Learning Community Manager or Youth Worker.

School of Languages 2027

Parafield Gardens High School students have the opportunity to study a range of languages through School of Languages!

The School of Languages is a government school offering many different languages after school hours, in different locations around the metropolitan area. While PGHS offers Japanese and German through our curriculum, School of Languages programs complement and supplement languages programs offered in mainstream and community schools. Some Khmer and Vietnamese classes are offered at Parafield Gardens High School on Monday nights.

β€’ Year 9-12 (and Adult) students can enrol through completing the online Expression of Interest. Students will then be contacted by a School of Languages Course Counsellor who will provide information, including about eligibility where appropriate, to set them on a path to success.

β€’ Year 7-8 enrolments can be made directly online to School of Languages at: 7-8 Enrolment

Information about School of Languages' timetable, courses, subject charges and teaching centre locations is available on their website: https://schooloflanguages.sa.edu.au/

πŸŽ‰ Quarter Final Winners! πŸŽ‰

A huge congratulations to our Year 10 Debating Team, who won their quarter final debate this week and are now through to the semi-finals next week! πŸ‘πŸŽ€

The team has had a fantastic debating season, continuing to build their confidence, teamwork and ability to think critically and communicate persuasively.

Even better, they have been sharing their knowledge and experience with their English class, who are currently completing a unit on debating. It’s wonderful to see our students not only achieving success themselves, but using what they have learned to support the learning of others. πŸ’‘

Congratulations to the team on an outstanding achievement. We wish you all the very best for the semi-final β€” we’ll be cheering you on! 🌟

Last week, PGHS came together to celebrate R U OK? Day to remind each other that a simple conversation can make a difference. Our day started with breakfast, followed by plenty of treats and activities at recess and lunch, including cake, popcorn, hot drinks and a photobooth.

Beyond the fun, the day was an opportunity for our students and staff to check in with one another and start conversations about mental health and wellbeing. Sometimes asking "are you okay?" can be the first step towards letting someone know they're not alone πŸ’›

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a positive and meaningful one for our PGHS community!
