What does it sound like to be at one of our noisy vehicle inspections?

These three vehicles were among 25 selected for testing at our recent compliance operation in Kirribilli.

Everyone deserves a good night's sleep.

That’s why we’ll continue carrying out inspections to reduce excessive vehicle noise.

Imagine finding out there's plastic in your skincare routine...

So far this year, we found plastic microbeads in scalp scrubs, body, face exfoliators and industrial hand cleaners.

Plastic microbeads in rinse-off products have been banned since 2022.

We conduct regular product searches online and in stores and continue to investigate community reports.

Look for any of these ingredients:
- Cellulose acetate
- Polyethylene
- Polylactic acid

If you suspect your beauty products have plastic microbeads, report to us - https://reportplastic.epa.nsw.gov.au

Most people know illegal dumping is wrong. Too many people are still doing it anyway.

Reported kerbside dumping by community members has halved in recent years – but illegal dumping remains a widespread problem across NSW.

In fact, 98% of councils report dealing with dumped waste, from old mattresses and furniture to tyres and household junk left on kerbsides, roadsides and in bushland.

Our latest research shows fewer residents and businesses are dumping waste compared with six years ago, but it still costs communities millions, harms wildlife, creates fire risks and pollutes our land and waterways.

If you have waste to get rid of, check your local disposal options and do the right thing.

Thanks for the incredible support!

Now a month has passed since the turtle ran the TCS Sydney Marathon.

If there’s one thing we want you to take from this, it’s to bin your rubbish.

No one dumps rubbish in your home, so don’t do it to nature.

This partnership was supported by the NSW Marine Estate Management Strategy.

We tested over 200 contaminants in Nambucca River system.

The good news...

Contaminant concentrations were low at the time of collection and are unlikely to pose a risk to the local ecosystem or human health.

These results provide a baseline for future monitoring and ongoing environment protection work.

We will continue to monitor the catchment in response to pollution events and other incidents such as fires to ensure the health of the community and the local environment.

We've ordered 8 beauty businesses to stop supplying products containing plastic microbeads.

These include major retailers Mecca, Sephora and ASOS.

Plastic microbeads were banned almost 4 years ago. They can cause lasting damage once they enter our waterways.

The type of products are scalp scrubs, body exfoliators, face exfoliators and industrial hand cleaners.

If you notice any of these ingredients in your skincare routine, report to us.

- Cellulose acetate
- Polyethylene
- Polylactic acid

This impressive looking Nissan Skyline rolled into our inspection area recently at Kirribilli.

It certainly turned some heads.

You can't always judge a car's noise levels by its appearance. This car passed its noise test, and its owner was able to drive away.

The Legal noise level for that vehicle is 90dB(A) – and it tested at 85dB(A).

It was one of the four vehicles where no action was needed.

21 others however were given defective notices and asked to make any necessary repairs to comply with noise control regulations. They will then be required to attend an EPA approved station for testing and inspection.

Everyone deserves a good night’s sleep.

That’s why we’ll continue carrying out vehicle inspections to help reduce excessive vehicle noise.

Solar panels shouldn't end up in landfill.

That's why we're proposing brand owners to help fund collection, recycling and resource recovery.

Why are we doing this?

Solar panels contain high value materials and critical minerals essential to Australia’s energy transition.

Currently, there are more than 1.18 million rooftop solar systems across NSW, and around 14,000 tonnes of solar panel waste is generated in NSW each year.

By 2045, it's expected to reach 89,000 tonnes. That's the weight of almost 60,000 cars.

We want you to help shape this regulation.
