🗓️ What a month! 🗓️
⛈️ Storm season has arrived, and our volunteers are already hard at work! With severe weather making its presence felt across NSW, the Hurstville Unit has already responded and supported our local community and greater Sydney community when they needed us most.
🍕 We kicked off the month with one of our favourite exercises, the annual Pizza Challenge. Members were put through their paces in a mock search and rescue exercise, testing teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills in a fun and competitive environment.
🎡 Our volunteers were also busy preparing for and supporting the Lions Spring Fair, our largest community engagement event of the year. The fair provided a fantastic opportunity to connect with local residents, share important preparedness information, showcase the work of the NSW SES, and engage with people interested in volunteering with our unit.
🛟 Our members continued to engage with regular training and upskill. Hurstville SES have been hosting Field Core Skills for our new recruits. This is the first step towards becoming a qualified field member. Members also participated in a Metro run flood rescue exercise in Penrith. This provided valuable information for supporting our larger Sydney community.
🧡 A huge thank you to all our volunteers who continue to dedicate their time, skills and energy to supporting the community, whether responding to incidents, training to build capability, or engaging with the public at local events.
