Combewood House is a historical House in Penrith. The year 1890 was an important one for Penrith. But the year 1890 was important for another reason.

During that year the town was connected to both water and electricity, significant occurrences indeed for what was then a relatively small country town such as Penrith. It also marked the completion of "Combewood", a now historic house situated near the corner of Coreen Avenue and Castlereagh Road, Penrith

😢 Friends of Combewood Inc. are deeply saddened by the recent passing of one of our foundation members.

🌹 Leanne Reynolds was an active member for more than 20 years. Only her tragic battle with cancer prevented her from attending recent meetings. Today at our AGM - we honour her contribution.

🎶 Leanne regularly provided beautiful music to accompany the social events at Combewood.

🌸 Rest in Peace Leanne and we sincerely thank you for your commitment to Combewood House.

Combewood House also features in the Penrith 2026 local history calendar. A great Xmas present 🎁

We’re excited to celebrate 23 years of making the History Calendar!

This year, we’re looking back at historic estates of the Nepean Valley and St Marys.

Glenleigh in Regentville was built as a country residence for shipping merchant, businessman and philanthropist James Ewan and his wife between 1887 and 1889.

It was designed by architect William Wardell, who designed many famous Australian buildings, including St Marys Cathedral in Sydney and Government House in Melbourne.

The site occupies a prominent position overlooking the Nepean Valley.

The calendar is available at all three Penrith City Libraries branches for $5. Get your copy today.
