Lauren is the RAFFWU delegate at Woolworths Lilydale. Lauren was also the subject of unlawful adverse action by Woolworths (with the help of SDA) as it tried to union bust RAFFWU. Apologies and compensation are one thing, but like Lauren we can't wait for the judgement in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia which is due soon. RAFFWU is the union for workers in retail. SDA is the association for bosses. www.raffwu.org.au/woolworths

This week the Fair Work Commission refused to approve the Better Read Than Dead agreement because the employer didn't explain the terms and their effect to any workers. The employer was represented by lawyers who refused to engage with RAFFWU at xmas when the vote was taken. We've demanded immediately put the agreement out to a new vote but the employer has gone silent. Help workers finish this by demanding the boss put the agreement out now to a new vote (with an explanation!)

Workchoices and then the (Un)Fair Work Act made it almost impossible for workers to take protected industrial action - to strike - for better pay and conditions. In other countries, workers have a right to strike. In Australia massive petitions, ballots, legal cases and more are needed over many months or years just to legally strike. In practice, at places like Coles bosses need to agree! We need to return our so we can secure our own wage increases.

Governments won't increase our wages - most politicians are in the pockets of business. Living wages and fair conditions have only been achieved by workers taking direct workplace action. We need the restored.

🟡 MASSIVE WIN FOR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS !!! 🔴
Casual Traffic Controllers working at STA Traffic Management have won several years of back pay for overtime hours worked.
There are over 200,000 traffic controllers in VIC. Those STA casuals working above the 38-hour week were paid at normal rates instead of overtime rates.
This win shows the importance of checking payslips, and querying anything that you think doesn't add up.
Congratulations to the Australian Workers' Union - Victorian Branch on a great victory.

Today Woolworths admitted to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia it had broken the law when it tried to union bust a RAFFWU safety campaign. The Court heard that within hours of a worker petition and dispute being lodged, the Store Manager was gloating he was being supported by SDA. That's right, SDA hand in glove with Woolworths trying to stop worker led safety action. Only one union in retail is on the side of workers, RAFFWU.

Rail workers have taken the difficult decision to go on strike. For six months rail workers have been in negotiations with the NSW Government. But the Government refuses to engage with workers on their serious concerns about safety and job security.
Show your support for striking rail workers by signing the solidarity message. You can also add a personalised message that we’ll make sure gets to workers on the ground.
Your support will show rail workers and management that the community supports fair conditions and pay for workers!
