8/10 A slightly nostalgic day for the Brigade as Capt Mike took our single cab Cat7 tanker to the Mittagong Fire Control Centre to swap over for a twin cab Cat 7. Our single cab was a 2000 model, 48843Kms, and has done sterling service for Penrose RFB, other Brigades from the Southern Highland's team and the RFS in general, as an excellent go anywhere fire-fighting vehicle.

21/9 Yesterday during your Brigade's 'Get Ready Day' Penrose 1 responded with Bundanoon, Exeter and Moss Vale Brigades (a large response due to the hot, windy conditions) to a grass fire in Exeter. It seems that that a 2-3 week old pile burn, which was thought to have been totally extinguished, reignited in the wind and started multiple small grass fires. After the grass fires were extinguished Penrose 1 used its 'monitor' to douse the original pile-burn.

20/9 A huge thanks to everyone that turned up to our Get Ready Day event. We hope that you feel more prepared for the Bush Fire season.
A big thanks for all the members who helped set-up and take down and to the cooks who baked up some lovely cakes.
The excitements was the Cat 1 taking off to attend a grass fire in Exeter.
If you missed today's GRD or want further information the Brigade meets on Wednesday nights for training.
