Was an honour to attend the Perth Nepali Mandir & Community Center fundraiser dinner last week. The Nepali community is one of the fastest growing communities in WA and it is great to see their community in the City of Armadale is also strong.

Congratulations to all invovled. It was a wonderful evening sharing culture, food, stories and aspirations.

Thank you president Rajesh and NAWA president Navin for the invitation. Was a great to meet with the consulate of India in Australia (Consulate General of India, Perth), Kajari Biswas, and the deputy consul-general of China, Wang Fengzhong Consulate General of China in Perth. We were also joined by Pierre Yang, MLC and Dr Parwinder MLC.

This may not seem like a big deal, but after our recent storms, the City of Armadale is happy to report that we had no major flooding issues in our waterways or drainage reported. ๐Ÿ‘

This is due in part to the proactive and dedicated work of our technical crew behind the scenes, checking waterways, mapping out from past experiences and pre-event planning, etc.

A great step forward and an example of the city getting on with the job. ๐Ÿ‘

Managing stormwater infrastructure is a huge, ongoing maintenance task for the City, and one many people never see!

The Cityโ€™s Engineering Maintenance team helps manage approximately 870km of stormwater pipe network and more than 34,500 drainage pits, with year-round inspection, vacuum cleaning and jetting works carried out to help reduce flooding risks and keep water flowing where it should.

The team also delivers a wide range of day-to-day works including road and footpath repairs, drainage maintenance, signage and line marking upkeep, asset inspections, emergency response works and responding to community reported issues.

To further strengthen this work, the team has recently begun using a vacuum truck to support more proactive in-house drainage maintenance activities across the City.

While much of this work happens quietly in the background, it plays an important role in helping keep roads, drainage and public infrastructure safe and functional during severe weather events.

In case you missed it -
Last week the City of Armadale had the official turning of the sod for our central park development near the Armadale train station. ๐ŸŽ‰

This park with have multi-level play features, a water๐Ÿ’ง play area and areas for basketball courts. ๐Ÿ€

This $14.5 million dollar park is paid for through state and federal government funds, a Lotterywest grant and city funds. Thanks for Matt Keogh, Dr. Tony Buti MLA and Hugh Jones MLA for attending. The area will be known as Karlup Journet Place.

We foresee the park opening in 2027.

It's the WA long weekend! I hope you manage to find some time for some relaxation. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Recently I asked the community what were the most iconic things for our area. The top mentions are below. There were over 85 responses.๐Ÿ‘ It is clear we love the outdoors and supporting local businessness!
Maybe you can try something local this weekend? ๐Ÿ˜

As always drive safe on our roads ๐Ÿš— and a reminder that it is double-demerits.

As for me, I'll be hoping for a ๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿˆ West Coast Eagles victory over the ๐Ÿ’ฃ

The Rowing WA 2026 Masters State Championships was held at Champion Lakes on Sunday 17 May, with great weather and calm conditions. ๐Ÿšฃโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Groups involved were Crews from Curtin University Boat Club, ANA Rowing Club, UWA Boat Club, Swan River Rowing Club, Fremantle Rowing Club and West Australian Rowing Club.

The Masterโ€™s State Champinships is proudly supported by City of Armadale , and I had the pleasure to represent Mayor Ruth Butterfield - City of Armadale in the afternoon at the presentation ceremony, assisting with the presentation of medals to winning crews.๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿฅˆ๐Ÿฅ‰

Congratulations to all invovled and to Rowing WA for their coordination of such a great event, involving people from all ages. It also allows us as a city to showcase why the Armadale area is such a great place to visit and explore further. ๐Ÿ˜€

Great to see continuing development within the Kelmscott town centre! ๐Ÿ‘Œ
Can't wait to see the Armadale Society of Artists in this space. ๐ŸŽจ
๐Ÿคžthe works are done as quickly as possible.

Later than originally expected, but this is great news for Kelmscott.

Tony Butiโ€™s office has confirmed that a tender has now been accepted for the renovation of the historic Station Masterโ€™s House, with works expected to be completed by late October.

The building will become a display and retail space for the Armadale Society of Artists.

While the delays were frustrating, itโ€™s good to finally see movement on bringing this important local building back to life and giving it a community purpose once again.

Step by step, our Kelmscott is on the up ๐Ÿ’ฏ
