Applications for the WA Youth Engagements Grants Program are open!

The 2026–27 WA Youth Engagement Grants Program is now open.
The grants help local organisations and community groups deliver programs that strengthen young people's participation in community life, build leadership and life skills, and create opportunities for young people to contribute to decisions that affect them.

Eligible organisations can apply for:
🔹up to $5,000 for short-term, one-off projects (up to six months)
🔹up to $10,000 for longer term, community-wide projects (6-12 months)

Applications close at 3pm on Tuesday 10 November 2026.

Department of Communities are seeking applications from local government or not-for-profit organisations for the Age-friendly Communities Connectivity Grants Program.

Today we’re celebrating International Day of Older Persons, recognising the valuable contributions older Western Australians make to communities across our state. To mark the occasion, applications are now open for our 2026 Age-friendly Communities Connectivity Grants Program.

If your local government or not-for-profit organisation delivers projects, programs, events or activities that support age-friendly communities, you are encouraged to apply. Grants of up to $15,000 are available for initiatives that:

🔹Challenge ageism
🔹Reduce loneliness and social isolation
🔹Strengthen older people’s connections with their communities

A second funding stream is also available to support local governments working towards membership of the World Health Organization's Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities.

📢 Our friends at WA Country Health Service have launched a new eating disorder screening tool in the Kimberley!

This tool will support culturally safe early identification and timely referral for young Aboriginal people aged 12 to 24 years.

This work helps to advance the strategic priorities identified in our WA Eating Disorders Framework. To find out more about the Framework visit www.mhc.wa.gov.au/about-us/our-approach/strategic-direction

We recently launched Australia’s first culturally safe eating disorder screening tool for Aboriginal young people.

'Feelings about my body and eating' will support early identification, timely referral and equitable care for those aged 12-24 in the Kimberley.

A Trauma-Informed Approach: Guidance for WA State Government (Guide) has been released to support State Government agencies build safer, more inclusive and resilient communities and workplaces.

The Guide is the result of cross Government collaboration and provides leaders and decision makers the tools to recognise and influence how their policies and services can promote safety, wellbeing and trust.
