As part of the plan, the SBDCs Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan to strengthen relationships with First Nation business owners, the SBDC commissioned an artwork from respected Noongar artist Yondee Shane Hansen.

Entitled “Living the Dream”, the artwork centres on translating ideas into viable business opportunities, with emphasis on collaboration, cultural connection and progress.

📰Retail Barring Orders created to protect small businesses.

A new law has been passed to allow retail businesses, shopping centres and unions to apply to the courts to ban a violent or threatening person from retail premises.

The law is expected to be in place by the end of the year alongside more information on how to obtain a Retail Barring Order (RBO).

RBOs are designed to help protect small businesses by preventing repeat offenders from returning to the premises where they have been abusive or violent.

Applications for the WA Small Business Resilience Program - CCTV Rebate will open at 10:00am on Monday 19 October 2026.

The rebate will provide eligible small business owners with up to 50% of the cost of a new or upgraded internal CCTV installation to a maximum of $2,000.

The CCTV Rebate aims to reduce crime and empower Western Australian retail and customer facing small businesses to take a proactive approach to crime prevention. It will help protect people, protect property and preserve evidence.

Our Reflect Reconciliation Plan (RAP) will act as the first step in developing and strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and deepening our understanding of the cultures and histories journey.
