Global Citizen is coming full circle to Perth! 🦘

From 18 to 20 October, Global Citizen NOW: Perth brings leaders from across the world to our city to drive action on climate and the clean energy transition.

To close the summit, Global Citizen Nights will celebrate the communities leading that change - with a free cultural and music night for all.

It's on Tuesday 20 October at the Riverside Theatre, Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Teskey Brothers headline, with South Summit and Ruby Rodgers following.

A $100 million investment is bringing 174 affordable homes to Northbridge - close to jobs, transport and services 🏠

Backed by the federal Housing Australia Future Fund, this is three levels of government pulling in the same direction. Work I'm proud to have progressed within DevelopmentWA - supply eases pressure across the whole market, and building is how we get there.

That's what eight years of community post the marriage equality plebiscite has built. A room where everyone is included. Where hundreds come to City Farm - not just to be part of a community, but to build and expand one! 🌈🌟

Belonging is how community becomes a verb. Congratulations, Vic Park Pride and all the amazing volunteers I worked beside!

Congratulations to Foundation Housing and Shelter WA - champions of social and affordable housing in our city! 👏

I took a moment to highlight last week's budget process - where I advocated to remove Corporate Business Plan provisions that would have seen public land sold to private investors. 💸

Instead, Council will investigate the full scope of options - including partnering with the Housing Australia Future Fund - to build more affordable apartments in the heart of Perth! 🌟

This week, Council adopted the City of Perth's 26/27 Budget! 🫰

A responsible budget that delivers the lowest rate burden in the state of 2.45% in order to provide real cost-of-living relief and equity for our whole community.✨

That fiscal strength is also a platform for the future: it positions the City to pursue growth opportunities and meet community demand. And it's why I raised an amendment advocating for increased funding for our arts, culture and events sector.

Backing festivals, artists and community activations can bring our city to life, create greater impact and flow on opportunity to make sure our city grows and benefits all. 🌟

NAIDOC Week is a reminder that reconciliation is built through meaningful dialogue, partnership and action.

I'm proud that this year, following a elector motion to restablish the Birak Concert, the City of Perth Council listened and committed to working towards a dedicated First Nations event - recognising that the strongest way to celebrate history is with genuine partnership, dialogue and committment.

Thank you to all - especially our Elders and First Nations advocates who continue to lead the way 🖤 💛 ❤️
