I've spent years living in and around Northbridge and long advocated for streets that put people first - safer, greener and built to support our local businesses, festivals, nightlife and everyday community life.

More trees, better lighting, wider footpaths, upgraded public spaces - all of it brings new energy and confidence back into the precinct, for everyone! 💃🎉✨

That same spirit was on display at Yagan Square, with new public art from Edith Cowan University as part of Illuminate.

As we consider the future of the Ore Obelisk and Lorenna Grant's The Arch we should always remember that creative community and cultural connection is at the heart of the Perth! ✨

Tonight I moved amendments to ensure a First Nations led 26th January event is backed by real funding pathways, genuine engagement and a cross-government roundtable.

This follows unanimous elector support and powerful advocacy by Tanesha Bennell, Jazz Lacey and Walter McGuire working with community.

The message was clear - and Council listened.

Grateful to all the councillors who stood behind inclusion, reconciliation and healing - voting in these amendments when our city and community needs it most! 🌟
