We've always known how important art is to our community. For some it helps them relay the emotions and experiences that can be difficult to put into words. For others, it can help them heal and come to terms with the unpredictability of living with a neuro condition.
This year, we're proud to host our largest exhibition to date with over 60 artworks displayed in Perth and Bunbury! The growing community involvement is truly special and we'd like to thank everyone for sharing their stories of challenge, strength and resilience.
As well, to help our community explore the theme in a way that feels most authentic to them, we've organised workshops with different art mediums across our Services Centres. This year, we also saw more collaborative creations come to life, such as the Butler Art Clubโs Snakes and Ladders artwork which was featured on Channel 10 ๐บ

MSWA is deeply saddened to hear of Neale Daniher's passing.
Neale's courageous fight and tireless advocacy against motor neurone disease was truly inspiring. Through years of dedication to fundraising and research, he became a leading force in Australiaโs search for a cure. Our thoughts and sympathies are with Nealeโs family and the wider MND community during this time๐
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Neale Daniher AO.
Neale was a true MND warrior โ courageous, determined and relentless in his fight against this devastating disease. Over 10 years ago he co-founded what would become FightMND, creating a movement that has invested over $117 million in MND research. His vision and tireless efforts have accelerated progress towards a cure and given hope to thousands of families affected by MND.
Through his advocacy, leadership and unshakable spirit, Neale brought MND into the national conversation, ensuring many more Australians understand its impact. His extraordinary legacy was fittingly recognised when he was named the 2025 Australian of the Year.
On behalf of MND Australia, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Nealeโs family, friends, and the entire FightMND community. His passing is a profound loss, not only for those who knew him personally, but for every Australian whose life has been touched by MND.
Vale Neale โ Australia has lost a hero.

From learning how to hold a paintbrush to creating three pieces of work for the Art Without Limits exhibition, MSWA Client, Leanne learned firsthand the power of art ๐จ
"I didn't want to get out of bed, I didn't want to do anything ... I was going downhill big time."
Thanks to her MSWA Counsellor she was introduced to painting to help with her mental health.
"Art is part of my therapy, for my enjoyment."

This week's local legend is artist Leanne Green.
Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2019, her life was changed forever.
In the years since, she's gone from struggling to pick up a paintbrush, to having three of her works showcased at the ongoing Art Without Limits exhibition, currently featured at Bunbury's Stirling Street Arts Centre.
She credits support from MSWA and her counsellor for getting her into painting.
"I thought 'this is doing my head in' and reached out to them," Ms Green said.
"I didn't want to get out of bed, I didn't want to do anything ... I was going downhill big time."
Sean, her counsellor, was a painter himself, and suggested she look into art.
"He showed me different techniques and how to hold a brush," she said.
"I do it as part of my therapy, for my enjoyment."
She said the work connected her with others dealing with an MS diagnosis.
"Being able to hear other people's stories [helped]," Ms Green said.
"Outreach is amazing; [MS] is not a life sentence, I've got so much more to learn."
The exhibition runs until May 30.

MSWA is proud to once again present โArt Without Limitsโ โจ
In recognition of World Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Day on May 30 and its global theme, โMy MS Diagnosis,โ the exhibition offers a powerful opportunity to share the personal stories of our diverse and talented neuro community!
This year's exhibition theme 'Navigating the Journey' encourages artists to explore their experience, with many pieces depicting a raw and real insight into having a neurological condition or knowing someone who does ๐จ
All are welcome to attend the Perth and Bunbury exhibition, while donations are welcome to support thousands of West Aussies living with a neurological condition.
