📸Safety cameras will soon be targeting seatbelt, mobile phone, and speeding offences on the Mitchell Freeway 📸
What you need to know:
☑️Fixed safety cameras are installed and operational at Vincent Street and Karrinyup Road.
☑️Caution notices will be issued instead of infringements for seatbelt and mobile phone offences detected by these cameras until 30 November 2026.
☑️Speeding offences detected by these cameras will be enforced.
As part of the $80 million Road Safety Reform Package, these cameras aim to save lives and prevent serious crashes. Mobile phones and seatbelt offences detected by safety cameras decreased by 80 per cent in just one year, demonstrating that more drivers and passengers are adjusting their behaviour.

👀Last week you may have spotted our friendly teams across the metro area handing out flyers and for good reason.
It’s another way we’re reminding everyone of the correct way to wear a seatbelt.
It’s great to see the community getting behind safer driving, with seatbelt and mobile phone offences detected by safety cameras already dropping significantly.
Let’s keep the momentum going!

It is an offence to not wear or incorrectly wear a seatbelt in Western Australia. Drivers must also ensure that all passengers travelling in their vehicle are appropriately restrained.
