🌟 We are recruiting! 🌟

Young people living, studying or working in the City of Bayswater are invited to join the City’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC) to learn new skills and help deliver projects for young people aged 12 to 25 💡

The YAC will undergo an exciting and dynamic 12-month leadership program, where participants meet on the second Tuesday of each month to co-design and plan a major youth-led event or project for other young people in the City to enjoy 🎉

Along the way, you will:
• Build your confidence and leadership skills
• Be mentored by industry professionals
• Learn how decisions are made
• Grow your project and event management toolkit
• Collaborate with other young changemakers
• Create something your community will remember

To make our Facebook comeback official (we've been locked out of the account for a hot minute) we're thrilled to launch Youth Zone, the City's first drop-in space for young people aged 15 to 25 🥳✏️

From 3.30pm on the first Thursday of each month, students and young professionals can head to Morley Library to connect with others and build life skills with the help of guest speakers 🎓💻

Join us to celebrate the launch of Youth Zone with a pizza party from 4 to 6pm on Thursday 7 August. Enjoy Mario Kart, Uno, puzzles and more 🍕🎮

Congratulations to Abeer Dubey for winning Showcase in Pixels 2022. Abeer’s vibrant and engaging artwork was judged the as the overall winner across six categories in the competition this year.

Abeer is 13 years old and a member of City of Bayswater YAC member and a student at Morley Senior High School.

As he describes his artwork “depicts the theme of ‘embracing change’ in the City of Bayswater by focusing on innovations, science, community and the ever-changing landscape of the area. The central figure shows a teen representing the youth, and an explosion of thoughts and creativity coming from the minds of a new generation.

The piece was created using markers on paper. The vibrant colours show the energy and excitement of the area and of the street culture of the community. It is shows diversity and harmony in the union of the juxtaposed colours and images.

I was inspired by the experience of walking the streets of Bayswater and taking in the sights, sounds and colours of the community. The street art, parks, shop fronts, entertainment district and natural beauty of the river and reserves provide a unique mix of the old and new.

I migrated to Australia in 2021 and now call the City of Bayswater home. I feel welcomed and appreciate the way the people embrace difference of all sorts. Life in Bayswater offers me opportunity, inspiration and hope for my future”

Youth Jam is tomorrow!! It's an amazing event full of art workshops and activities for young people aged 12 - 25.

Deadly Denim is a business with a social impact,
showcasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists on upcycled denim.

The Deadly Denim workshop at 2pm gives young people a chance to decorate a denim jacket with Indigenous designs to take home (pictured).

There are limited places so please ensure you arrive a few minutes before the session starts for the best chance of securing your spot.
2pm start.
