Congratulations to Donna Mallaby! 🎉
We’re proud to share that Donna, our McCusker Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist (Regional WA), has been awarded a scholarship to undertake the Graduate Certificate in Designated RN Prescribing through Edith Cowan University.
Supported by the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Office within the WA Department of Health, the scholarship is part of an initiative expanding the role of registered nurses in prescribing specified medicines.
This advanced training will further strengthen Donna’s work as a McCusker Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist, supporting the delivery of timely, coordinated and person-centred care for people living with Parkinson’s.
Congratulations, Donna! đź’™

We’re excited to be part of the 2027 Cool Water Classic as Parkinson’s Western Australia’s official Charity Partner!

Our Honorary Medical Director, Dr David Blacker, will be taking to the water alongside his wife Kirsten, Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science’s Alexa and Claire, and their friend Nicky — all united by a shared commitment to raising awareness and funds for the Parkinson’s community.

We’re so grateful to this wonderful team for getting behind Parkinson’s WA and helping make a difference for people living with Parkinson’s.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this possible. We can’t wait to cheer them on as they take on the waves for a great cause!

Last month, the Cannington Support Group had a wonderful time enjoying some fun chair exercises, run by Functional Fun Therapy! Everyone got involved, had a few laughs, and enjoyed moving to the music in a relaxed, welcoming, and supportive environment.

The exercises were thoughtfully adapted to suit everyone's individual abilities and needs, helping everyone participate comfortably and safely at their own pace. đź’– It was a great reminder that staying active doesn't have to be complicated!

A big well done to everyone who joined in and made the session such a fun and positive experience! And a big thankyou to Jess and Angelique from Functional Fun for running the session! 👏

đź’™ Celebrating and supporting our carers this National Carers Week!
Last week, we held our Carers Seminar as part of National Carers Week, bringing people together for a valuable morning of learning, sharing and connection.
We were pleased to welcome David from Carers WA, who spoke about the support and resources available to carers, as well as guest speakers Patricia and Peter, who generously shared their own experiences of caring for someone living with Parkinson’s.
It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the support available, hear different perspectives and connect through shared experiences. đź’™
A heartfelt thank you to David, Patricia and Peter for sharing their knowledge and stories, and to everyone who attended and helped make the seminar such a meaningful experience.
At Parkinson’s WA, we recognise the important role carers play and remain committed to supporting them every step of the way.

⛳A huge thank you to Major Motors for choosing Parkinson’s WA as their charity partner for their annual golf day! We’re so grateful for your support and for the opportunity to raise awareness of Parkinson’s.

Amanda, Kerrin and Jessica had a wonderful day yesterday meeting so many lovely people, sharing conversations and talking about the work of Parkinson’s WA. It was fantastic to connect with everyone and help spread awareness of Parkinson’s in our community.

🌦️ Even a few light showers of rain couldn’t dampen anyone’s spirits! There were plenty of smiles, great conversations and a wonderful sense of community throughout the day.

A special thank you for the incredible donations received in support of Parkinson’s WA. Your generosity will help us continue supporting people living with Parkinson’s and their families. 💚

We truly appreciate your kindness, generosity and commitment to making a difference!
