headspace Hedland team stands alongside community marking the 80th anniversary of the Pilbara Strike ✊❤️

In 1946, approximately 800 Aboriginal pastoral workers across 25 stations in north-west Western Australia walked away in defiance of the Aborigines Act 1905 (WA) - launching the longest strike in Australian history and inspiring other communities to fight for their rights.

This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme, ‘All In’, reminds us that in reflecting on moments like these, the spirit of reconciliation calls on all of us to listen, learn, and show the deep respect that Aboriginal history and culture so rightfully deserve.

Anglicare WA is committed to walking alongside community with humility and support - acknowledging that culture, connection and history continue to guide the way forward. History isn’t something that sits quietly in the past; it lives, breathes, and shapes how we show up every day.

National Sorry Day is a solemn reminder that up to one in three Aboriginal children were forcibly removed from their families between 1910 and the 1970s - a devastating practice that touched nearly every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and continues to shape lives, families, and culture today.

Sorry without action is not enough. We stand with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in calling on government and community leaders to take meaningful steps that ensure Stolen Generations survivors see justice, healing, and reconnection within their lifetimes.

The path forward requires all of us. Consider taking a moment to learn more, support survivor‑led organisations, or advocate for change. Your voice matters. 🗣️ 🙌

No amount of rain could stop this group of Eaton Community College students from celebrating their graduation from Dismantle Inc’s BikeRescue program! 🚲✨

Over a week they learned how to pull apart and rebuild two bikes each, one donated to charity, and one customised to keep.

This regional program is a hands‑on youth development initiative that empowers young people to build practical skills, confidence, teamwork and social connection. Over the course of the program, mentors work with participants, exploring their mental health, interests, passions and future career goals while guiding them through mechanical activities.

A huge shout‑out to South32 and the Shire of Dardanup for teaming up with Eaton Community College’s Student Wellbeing Officer, Sonja Hoctor, to bring this program to life! 👏
