Marine ply is on the wall! It can’t go without saying, again - we have some serious legends out there in our community! These legends gave their weekend to an excellent cause!

WHAT A COMMUNITY. 🤯🐝

A little before and after, but even this reel doesn’t do justice to what was accomplished today!

🎨 Walls and plywood panels prepped and painted, with the panels being hung tomorrow! Our artist, Renee McAlpine, starts her magic on Friday. 🎨

🌿 A pocket garden amongst the trees on the Roche Road side of the school.

🌱 The old chicken coop and fencing are GONE, with the space cleared and flattened ready for the school to start its community garden and outdoor learning area.

Anyone walking into school on Monday won’t believe the difference and there’s even more incredible things to come!

To everyone who showed up, lent their skills, brought tools, supplied refreshments, offered a ute or got stuck into a messy job - THANK YOU. We actually couldn’t have done this without you.

Everyone brought something valuable and gave it their all. Special mention to our Deputy, Meg Klaver, who we learned today is an absolute machine! 💪😂 The effort across the whole team was incredible. 👏

Your time, skills and hard work have made an enormous difference for our school and our kids.

Grateful doesn’t quite cover it. What an A-Team! 💪🐝😍🙌

🐝 BUSY BEE TOMORROW!
⏰ 9am–1pm

Four hours to make a big difference and we need your help! 💪 🔨 🧰 🪴

We’ll be clearing the old chicken coop area for a future community kitchen garden, removing fencing and the shed, painting around the fountains, filling holes and tidying gardens.

If you can, please bring: 🪏

• Any random colour, half empty paint tins you want out of your garage, fillers and painting supplies like tarps, brushes etc
• Ladders and extension roller poles.
• ⁠screwdrivers/screws/nails/hammer
• Shovels, garden tools and wheelbarrows
• Soil, potting mix, fertiliser, garden fork
• Drills, fixings and suitable equipment

No tools? Just love?! There’s plenty to help with, nothing but love required. 🍎 🫐 🍓

A huge thank you to the families who have already donated Bunnings gift cards and helped already in big ways to support! 🙌🙌

🎉 A $1,000 WIN FOR OUR VOLUNTEERS! 🎉

We’re thrilled to announce that Duncraig Primary School P&C has received $1,000 through the 2026 International Volunteer Day Grants Program to celebrate the people who help make the magic happen!

This is a first for our P&C: dedicated funding to bring our volunteers together and give them the recognition they deserve.

Our fundraising can only focus on benefiting the children at Duncraig Primary through experiences, equipment, opportunities and improvements to their school. This grant gives us a separate opportunity to celebrate the people whose time and generosity make so much of that possible.

A special shout-out to our Vice President, Mel. 👏

For years, Mel has wanted to shine a brighter light on our volunteers. This year she made it her mission to find a way to turn that wish into something we could deliver. Her effort has secured this opportunity and we’re incredibly grateful that she kept pursuing something that matters to all of us.

Our celebration, “Make the invisible visible”, will recognise the work that often happens quietly behind the scenes. From the running of our sub-committees, the late night baking, the event preparation, organisation and ex*****on, the countless responses of “yes, I can help” are what keep our P&C going strong. 💪

The President is busy preparing invitations for a volunteer appreciation breakfast. We can’t wait to bring these wonderful people together and give them a well-earned thank you.

So much of what our children enjoy begins with someone generously giving their time. This time, we get to celebrate them. 😍🥳

🎃 HALLOWEEN SCHOOL DISCO! 👻

Kindy–Year 2: 3:30–4:45 pm
Years 3–5: 5–6:30 pm
Entry: $5 per child

Please purchase online wherever possible so we can organise snacks and volunteers ahead of time. Cash will be accepted at the door but advance purchases are preferred!

Available to purchase on the night:

* Party Snacks (sweet treats)
* Spooky face/hair glitter — $2 per child
* Glow goodies — prices vary

Drinks won’t be sold. Cold drinking water will be available from the fountain. Or bring a water bottle.

A note for Years 3–5 families: Parents and guardians must remain present and responsible for their children’s behaviour and safety. Volunteers will oversee the space while running activities and managing the event. The school’s usual behaviour policy applies and any behaviour issues will be managed through the school.

🐝 ONE WEEK TO GO — BUSY BEE! 🐝

📅 Saturday 24 October
⏰ 9am–1pm

With just four hours we have the chance to transform some major areas of our school - but we need our wonderful community behind us to make it happen!

Our gardener will also be there helping - the tools and equipment he is allowed to typically use on school property are limited. This is where our P&C and school community can step in to tackle the jobs he simply can’t.

Our main goals include:

* Clearing and flattening most of the old chicken coop area in preparation for a future community kitchen garden
* Taking down fencing and removing the old shed
* Painting the walls above the fountains and refreshing other dilapidated areas
* ⁠General garden tidying around the areas
* Filling holes and leaving these spaces as simple, clean and ready for their next chapter as possible

We would be incredibly grateful for the use or donation of:
* Paint and suitable fillers
* Brushes, rollers, trays, extension poles and tarps
* Ladders
* Shovels and other garden tools
* Wheelbarrows
* Potting mix and soil
* Drills, screws and nails
* Chainsaws and other suitable equipment
* Anything else that may help us complete these jobs

You don’t need to bring anything but yourself. We plan to make do with what is available but we are really hoping to make these four hours count!

If you have items to donate, please kindly drop them at the front office or discuss alternative arrangements with the P&C President.

A huge thank you to the families who have already donated Bunnings gift cards. Teamwork makes the dream work!

One of our smaller jobs will also be one of the most meaningful. We will place the students’ names inside the cavities near the fountains before closing them off - creating a time capsule and leaving their legacy within the school.

It sounds like a big 4 hours but when you have an epic community behind you, many hands make light work. These four hours are going to transform our school in ways that will be HUGE!

🌈 What a way to finish up Term 3!

Our Free Dress Day raised $460 toward our lower school glam up! 🥳

Those gold coins add up and help us make improvements to the spaces our kids use every day.

We can’t wait to see it all take shape! 🙌
