Conversations about death and dying can be hard but they matter deeply.

Our Death & Dying Project is about strengthening how we support customers, families and colleagues through end-of-life experiences with dignity, compassion and choice.

This work is about more than process. It’s about people, honest conversations, and making sure no one walks through these moments alone.

We’re proud to share this video with our community and the wider sector.

Conversations about death and dying can be hard but they are some of the most important ones we can have.

Over the last two years, Avivo has been learning how we can better support customers, families and colleagues through end-of-life experiences with dignity, compassion and choice.

That journey became our Death & Dying Project.

Together with colleagues, customers and families, we’ve developed new resources, stronger processes and better ways of working - including guidance around Advance Health Directives (AHDs), Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD), death reviews, and more proactive planning for teams supporting people with life-limiting diagnoses.

This work is about more than organisational processes. It’s about people. It’s about creating space for honest conversations, supporting our teams, and making sure every person feels respected and supported through every stage of life.

We’re proud to share this work with our community and the wider sector, and hope it helps open the door to more supported conversations about death and dying.

At Avivo, we’re proud to have in-house trainers and upcoming courses to help our teams build these life-saving skills.

If you are interested in coming along to a training session or hosting one at your workplace, get in touch for more information!

The NDIS has transformed many lives – but it can’t do everything.

Some people with disability are not eligible for the NDIS at all.

The Government is introducing foundational supports, which will provide people with disability
with supports and services they need outside of the NDIS.

Come along to the Disability Dialouge online event on 30th July to talk about what foundational supports people with disability need to live a good life.

NAIDOC Week 🖤❤️💛

This week, we honour the rich history, vibrant cultures, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our communities.

The 2025 theme 'The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy', celebrates the strength of our young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the enduring legacy of our ancestors.

This week is a time for all Australians to come together, learn, and celebrate the oldest continuous living cultures on Earth. Join in local events, connect with community, and be part of shaping a brighter future.

We’re deeply saddened by the passing of John O’Brien - a visionary, advocate, and ally to people with disabilities.

His humility, relentless curiosity, and tireless creativity shaped lives and systems around the world. His legacy lives on in the way we think, work, and honour the mystery and wonder of every person.

Rest in peace, John 💚

Family and Domestic Violence can show up in many ways, and it isn’t always physical.

Abuse can also look like:
🚫 Controlling finances
🗣 Constant criticism or humiliation
📵 Isolating someone from friends and family
😟 Threats, intimidation or manipulation

All forms of abuse are serious and valid. Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and supported in their relationships and their home.

If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, help is available.

You’re not alone 🤍

This week is National Reconciliation Week - a time to reflect, learn, and take meaningful steps forward together.

The 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next, reminds us that reconciliation is an ongoing journey, one that honours the strength of the past while building a better future.

We are encouraged to ask - "What can I do today to help create a more just, inclusive and united Australia?"

The beautiful theme artwork by Kalkadoon woman Bree Buttenshaw features native plants that regenerate after fire, a powerful symbol of strength, growth, and healing.

Let’s take this week to listen, learn and commit to walking together.

Sunshine, fresh air, and good company - what more could you ask for? 😌

Evan and his support worker Nicky spent the day doing something he truly loves: fishing! 🎣

At Avivo, we’re big believers in supporting our customers to live life their way, whatever that looks like.

From heading out on the water, exploring the community, to simply doing what makes you feel most you, we’re here to support you every step of the way 💚
