PIARC has released a new resource highlighting global best practice for improving motorcycle safety, an important focus for Local Governments, with many serious crashes occurring on the local road network.

The resource explores motorcycle protection systems and how traffic management practices can better protect this vulnerable road user group.

ANCAP Safety Ratings has unveiled updated safety protocols in their latest release; What’s New from 2026?, bringing stronger, more realistic testing and clearer standards to help keep all road users safe.

Local Governments are being encouraged to explore the new protocols and use them to guide better fleet policies and community transport planning.

The Shire of Ravensthorpe are improving travel speeds for better outcomes for their community.

The Shire of Ravensthorpe has agreed to reduce the speed limit for the main streets of Hopetoun and Ravensthorpe to 40 kilometres per hour.

The proposal came from the Hopetoun Senior Citizens Group.

Councillors voted in favour of the change at this week's council meeting.

The request will now be put to Main Roads for approval.

The Shire of Dardanup has recently completed a series of intersection upgrades to address long-standing road safety concerns, improving traffic flow and reducing complexity along the busy corridor.

The Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes has successfully implemented an area wide 40km/h speed limit across the Greenbushes town site. A proactive move to improve safety for pedestrians and enhance liveability by creating slower, safer streets, especially with the increased presence of heavy vehicles.

The City of Bunbury has improved safety at an existing roundabout by installing speed platforms to reduce approach speeds and create safer crossing points for vulnerable road users.
