Pride in Peel is a small NGO that promotes and supports an inclusive, safe community for the LGBTQIA+ folk, families and allies in the Mandurah area.

Today we’re supporting them at the rainbow fair and family fairday.
🌈 We stand in pride & continue to advocate for equality, dignity & inclusion for all.

Today is Transgender Day of Visibility 🏳️‍⚧️

Before trans people were the focus of misinformation and moral panic the same tactics were used against gay and le***an communities.

We’ve seen this pattern before.

If you’re unsure what to believe, take a moment to look at credible sources, listen to lived experiences and question where the loudest narratives are coming from.

Trans people….

🏳️‍⚧️ are diverse
🏳️‍⚧️they exist across cultures, ages and backgrounds
🏳️‍⚧️are our neighbours, friends, family members and colleagues
🏳️‍⚧️ deserve respect, dignity and the same fundamental human rights as everyone else.

Too often they are reduced to stereotypes, ‘othered’ and treated as issues to debate.

We reject that.

We choose to see and support the real people in our lives and community.

Every conversation should and must start from there…

As part of the Cook Labor Government's commitment to building safe and inclusive communities, we’ve just launched Western Australia’s first LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy and Action Plan.

The ten-year strategy and five-year action plan outline the key priority areas for building a safer, more inclusive WA for LGBTIQA+ communities, focusing on four priority areas:

🏳️‍🌈 Belonging, connection and visibility
🏳️‍🌈 Safety, equity and wellbeing
🏳️‍🌈 Systems, services and data
🏳️‍🌈 Leadership, education and awareness

As part of the Action Plan, we’ve also announced the opening of a new grants program totalling $252,000 to support pilots, projects and initiatives that align with the priorities of the strategy.

The LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Grants Program offers two grant application streams, with grants of up to $10,000 for eligible organisations and local governments and up to $25,000 available for collaborative projects.

Surrogacy Reform has passed both Houses of the WA Parliament! After a long debate in the upper house, the ART and Surrogacy Bill of 2025 has successfully passed the lower and upper houses of WA These long-awaited reforms will help ensure WA’s surrogacy system is fair, safe and supportive for all West Australians!
