Our priorities for 2026 - Reading and Engagement

As you know, here at OSS we learn about The Resilience Project (TRP) and we are passionate about extending this important learning beyond the classroom and into the home. Each week, students engage in lessons focused on Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness (GEM), building their emotional literacy and developing practical strategies to support their wellbeing and relationships.

Please see the GEM chat prompts below that you can use with your child, they are a great way to support GEM and strengthen understanding.

The Athletics Carnival is fast approaching, and we're looking for a few extra helping hands to assist with the P&C BBQ on Thursday and Friday.
Can't stay all day? That's okay!
Even an hour or two helps, and having a few extra volunteers allows us to spread the workload and gives our current volunteers the opportunity to spectate their own children's events throughout the day.

We warmly invite families to join us over the coming days for our Athletics Carnival. A sausage sizzle and coffee will also be available for purchase throughout the event.

The Resilience Project at Ormeau State School - Every Wednesday morning, all classes across our school participate in The Resilience Project (TRP), developing important life skills through lessons focused on Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness (GEM).
Through these lessons, students are strengthening their emotional literacy, learning to identify and understand their emotions, and building a toolkit of strategies to support their wellbeing and positive relationships with others.
We encourage families to continue these conversations at home by asking your child about the GEM strategies they have been learning and how they can use them in everyday situations.
