🌟 Snakebites - What To Do If Your Pet is Bitten 🌟

🐍 Snake season is here, and bites can be life-threatening for your pet. Knowing what to do could save their life.

⚠️ Signs your pet may have been bitten:

🔹Sudden weakness or collapse (sometimes followed by seeming recovery)
🔹Tremors, twitching or loss of coordination
🔹Dilated pupils or difficulty blinking
🔹Vomiting
🔹Paralysis or trouble breathing

🚨 What to do if you suspect a snake bite:
✅ Keep your pet calm and as still as possible – movement spreads venom faster
✅ Take them to the nearest vet immediately (do not wait for symptoms to worsen)

⏱️ Time is critical – early treatment can save your pet’s life.

If your pet is bitten after hours, contact us right away. We’re here for emergencies when every minute counts. ❤️
📍Our Cannington hospital is open 24/7 and our Yokine hospital provides after-hours emergency care - 365 days per year.

This slippery noodle thought underneath the outside b**r fridge would be an amazing place to get some warmth in a family’s patio area this afternoon in Rockingham, as soon as it was noticed the family contacted Medusa Reptile Services who kindly passed along the call out to me. After a quick photo it was released back to where it came from away from any cold beverages 🍻 🍃🌿

Some stunning Tiger Snakes found today in the Rockingham area.

Important to note out of the 14 individuals I found, not a single one chased me and all were more interested on darting into a bush or slowly backing away until I stayed completely still. To them we are considered potential predators being far bigger than they are.

A important reminder to keep your dogs on a leash when walking through trails and bushland as we approach snake season, and consider getting your dogs snake trained for the safety of your pooch and native wildlife 🐍 🐶

It’s a sunny morning and some reptiles are taking the opportunity to get out for a bask! Here’s a Western Bearded Dragon (Pogona Minor Minor) and a Tiger Snake (Notechis Scutatus) spotted while out for a walk this morning 🐍 🦎

Release of the Pinjarra Tiger Snake from the other day.

Snakes much prefer to escape and flee in the presence of humans rather than becoming defensive or “attack”. Give them space and opportunity to retreat and their behaviour completely changes 🐍

Tiger Snakes don’t climb right?

Somewhere along the line this stunner of a Tiger snake (Notechis Scutatus) decided they wanted to live their best life trying to get up high on a fence (most likely realised there’s scary humans around and wanted to escape and couldn’t find another way out) but then realised they probably needed to get down too and couldn’t find a safe place to do so, fortunately upon my arrival they gracefully hopped straight into my bag and off we went so they could continue their new hobby away from any housing areas and in some nice swampy conservation habitat 🐍

Happy World Lizard Day!

Here’s the cheekiest Gould’s Monitor (Varanus Gouldii) I had the pleasure of catching and relocating at the end of last year that managed to get into a suburban backyard in Byford.

In the Perth metro region, we have 3 monitor species that can be found which naturally occur here:

- Gould’s Monitor (Varanus Gouldii)
- Southern Heath Monitor (Varanus Rosenbergi)
- Black Headed Monitor (Varanus Tristis)

Dugite 🐍
(Pseudonaja Affinis)
Dangerously venomous

Today I got to move this lil bundle of cuteness out of a suburban front yard in Wellard, and is now ecstatic to be away from humans in some thick bush area 🍃🌳🪵

While we are still in winter, snakes like this little noodle can take opportunities on the sunny winter days to come out for a bask and get some beautiful rays! ☀️

If you need a reptile relocated, myself and a great crew of people SOR all work together to ensure the safety between people, pets and wildlife like our local snakes 🐍
