Port Kembla Licensed Post Office

After 27 years, 10 months and 13 days, on 2nd April , Vicky and I will officially be stepping down as the licensees of Port Kembla Post Office.
It’s been an incredible journey filled with unforgettable memories and cherished friendships. We are grateful for the opportunity to have served this community to the best of our abilities.
Retirement is something I ‘ve resisted for the last decade, but now I’m looking forward to putting my feet up and spending quality time with my family.
Port Kembla holds a special place in our hearts, thanks to its beautiful people , who we proudly consider part of our extended family . We are honored to have been able to serve you all.
While we may be stepping back, rest assured that the new licensee is committed to maintaining the excellent service this town deserves. In fact , I’ll still be around two days a week to ensure a smooth transition.
A heartfelt thank you to all our loyal customers over the years. Your support has meant the world to us.
And to the incredible staff , past and present, who have worked tirelessly alongside us,you are unforgettable.

Although there will be no deliveries tomorrow ( Saturday) we will have our office open until 1:00 pm to allow those who have been unable to collect their parcels to do so in time for Christmas!

Vicky & I took over the helm of the Port Kembla Post Office on 20th May, 1996 and we were only supposed to do that for only 3 to 4 years.
It is now 20th May, 2022… 26 years since that first day… a lot of water under that bridge…. A lot of blood, sweat & tears… a lot of memories & a lot of friends acquired and we are still here!!!!

The 1st of December, 1974 was a beautiful sunny day . It was the day also that my world changed! It was the day Vicky & I became one!!! Happy 47th anniversary Vicky!
You have been & still are the most supporting wife, partner, mother, grandmother a man could possibly wish for.
Love you now still as much as I did that beautiful day!!!!

As everyone by now is aware, the NSW Government yesterday announced a lockdown of all residents of Greater Sydney including The Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong & Shellharbour.
This came into effect yesterday 26/6/2021 at 6:00 pm and hopefully will end on Friday 9/6/2021 at 11:59 pm.
All residents in those areas may only leave home for specific purposes.
We at Port Kembla Post Office will continue to operate as an essential service and will remain open to customers during our regularly advertised opening hours:
Monday to Thursday : 7:45 am to 6:00 pm
Friday : 7:45 am to 5:30 pm
Saturday: 8:30 am to 1:00 pm
Obviously face masks and social distancing will be mandatory within our premises.
Please stay indoors unless necessary to go out & keep safe.
PS I have been made aware that some people are under the impression that our office will close shortly permanently.
PLEASE REST ASSURED THAT THIS IS NOT THE CASE AS ONLY THE BUILDING HAS BEEN SOLD.

Big day yesterday for Port Kembla Post Office. We had a visit from Australia Post Executive General Manager Community & Consumer Nicole Sheffield, State Manager Christine Walker , our Network Manager Chris & Area Manager Perin. They came to congratulate us on Vicky & I achieving 25 years at the helm of the Port Kembla Post Office.
25 years running the same Post Office is no mean feat... 25 years running Port Kembla Post Office is just insane!!!
Thank you Australia Post for recognizing this but Vicky & I could have not done it without the great staff we have been fortunate to have had over the years ... thank you Hope, Erin of the past years and our current staff our efficient Natalie & Trish. A special thanks goes to our loyal customers without whom we could not possibly have survived for so many years.

It was on 20th May 1996 that Vicky And I took over management of the Port Kembla Post Office as licensees.
After 25 years of service to the local community...a lot of battles lost & won but mostly the acquisition of many loyal customers who I proudly call my friends we are still here doing what we know best ... and it’s not just selling stamps!!!!
Vicky & I & Trish & Natalie have been blessed with the best customers and are forever grateful for their support over the years.

On Tuesday, 19th May, Australia Post launched a national marketing campaign which they called “Dear Australia “.
The idea behind this is to encourage all Australians to share their experiences of this moment in time with a letter to Australia.
To quote Australia Post “ We are currently experiencing an unprecedented event in Australia’s history. The Coronavirus ( Covid19)
Pandemic has impacted our families, our communities & our way of life so we have created a national letterbox where everyone in Australia can send a letter reflecting on how they are feeling through this time of social distancing & isolation “
Some of the letters will be shared with Australia on Australia Post’s website & social channels and Australia Post will select some which will be transferred to the National Archives of Australia so that our future generations can learn about this time.
Letters sent in should contain a message of hope for all our world.
Stories of community spirit or how COVID19 has changed or will change our way of life. It might even incorporate your children’s artwork.
Anyone can participate but children will need parent/guardian permission. All you have to do is write the letter, place it in an envelope, affix a postage stamp & hand it to any Post Office or drop it in a red mailing post box.
