🌭🐎 Slinging Sausages at the Port Cup! 🚤

While the horses were racing, our Marine Rescue Port Macquarie volunteers were busy slinging sausages and raising a few bucks to keep the show afloat! 🌭🔥

💙 Marine Rescue is a not-for-profit charity, and while we're grateful for the government funding we receive, it covers only around 20% of our annual running costs.

That means our volunteers aren't just out on the water saving lives. They're also regularly out in the community, cooking snags, running fundraisers, and doing whatever they can to help keep our rescue vessels operational.

⚓ Every sausage sold helps keep the show afloat – literally!

👏 A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers who gave up their time at the Port Cup, and to the community for your continued support.

We couldn't do it without you! 💙🚤

🏆⚓ Congratulations to Our Very Own Geoff Shelton! 👏

A huge congratulations to Geoff Shelton, who has received a Commendation in the Long-standing Contribution to Search and Rescue category at the 2026 Australian Search and Rescue Awards! 🇦🇺🚤

Geoff has dedicated an extraordinary 37 years to marine search and rescue, serving our local community through Marine Rescue Port Macquarie and, before that, Sea Rescue.

💙 Earlier this year, Geoff was awarded Life Membership of Marine Rescue Port Macquarie, recognising his decades of commitment and service to our unit.

Now, that dedication has been recognised on the national stage!

👏 Geoff, this commendation is thoroughly deserved. Thank you for everything you have contributed over the years, for the countless hours volunteered, and for your commitment to keeping people safe on the water.

Your service has not gone unnoticed, and we're incredibly proud to call you one of our own!

🎉 Congratulations, Geoff! ⚓💙

🚤 Sunday Morning Training – Delta Crew! ☀️

Delta Crew headed upriver to Telegraph Point on Sunday morning for some river familiarisation and shallow-water navigation training.

🌊 We're fortunate to have some beautiful waterways in our region, but knowing them is also an important part of being rescue-ready!

🧭 Understanding local waterways, navigating shallow waters, and identifying potential hazards all help our crews respond safely and effectively when assistance is needed.

👏 Great morning on the water, Delta!

🚑🌊 First Aid Scenario Day 🌊🚑

Marine Rescue Port Macquarie members joined with CSU paramedic students for a full day of practical first aid scenarios, honing existing skills, learning new ones, and working together in realistic situations. 🩹⚓

The day was also a great opportunity to better understand how we can support each other when responding to emergencies on and around the water. 🤝🚤

A massive thank you to all of the CSU paramedic students who took part, and particularly Ella and Coen for the time and effort they put into getting the day organised and running. 👏👏

Some excellent training, plenty of lessons learnt, and another step towards working together to help save lives on the water. 💙

PORT MACQUARIE MARINE RESCUE UP IN LIGHTS 🔦🛥️
Great to catch up with the team at Port Macquarie Marine Rescue this week to congratulate them on their successful funding application through the Volunteer Grant program.

The crew scored $4,260 for the purchase of six hand held search lights to aid the dedicated volunteers in their rescue efforts. The portable lights will provide more accurate longer range vision, imperative for night time rescues.

Port Macquarie is so lucky to have the large volunteer cohort on hand, with an impressive 235 members. Great to see! It might have something to do with the spectacular view 😉

Thank you for dedicating your time and efforts into keeping our community safe on the water.

🌙🚤 Night Training for Delta Crew 🚤🌙

A beautiful night on the water for Delta Crew to sharpen up some practical skills, including tow practice, rafting up, and vessel handling after dark. ⚓🪢

Night operations bring their own challenges, so regular practice helps keep everyone confident, capable, and ready when it counts. 🌊🔦

Great training, great conditions, and not a bad office for the evening either! 👏🌙

🚤⚓ Crew Training ⚓🚤

Our next group of crew trainees are out on the boats and learning the ropes — quite literally! 🪢🌊

There’s plenty to learn as they build their skills, confidence, and experience on the water, but training isn’t a bad way to spend an evening when Port Macquarie puts on a sunset like this. 🌅😎

Great to see the next group getting stuck in and progressing through their training. 👏🚤
