There are new changes to how bus and CPV incidents are reported.
From 4 June 2026, duty holders will need to classify by incident type when submitting a notifiable incident report.
Reporting obligations have not changed. The new field is designed to support more consistent reporting across the bus and CPV sectors.
Guidance is available to help operators choose the correct incident type:

Drivers and cyclists share Victoria’s roads every day.
On World Bicycle Day, we’re reminding all road users to stay alert and help keep each other safe.
Drivers can help by:
• Giving cyclists plenty of space
• Checking mirrors and blind spots
• Looking carefully before turning or opening doors
• Taking extra care near bike lanes and intersections
A little extra awareness can make a big difference.

🐕🦺 Happy International Guide Dog Day!
Today we're celebrating the guide dogs and assistance dogs that support passengers every day.
These dogs aren't pets, they're working animals. In Victoria, assistance dogs are allowed in all taxis, rideshares and buses, and drivers must not refuse them.

Long hours. Busy roads. Constant focus. It all adds up.
On World Day for Safety and Health at Work, we’re reminding CPV and bus drivers to look after themselves on the job.
A few simple habits can make a big difference:
• Look after your wellbeing
• Keep your vehicle safe and roadworthy
• Stay focused behind the wheel
Because when drivers stay safe, everyone gets home safer.

We’ve released a new Guide to Transporting Passengers in Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles.
You might not drive a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) — but all CPV drivers assist passengers with mobility needs.
The guide supports drivers to safely and confidently assist passengers, focusing on respectful communication, correct use of vehicles and equipment, and providing assistance that supports dignity, independence, and individual needs.
Worth having — even if you don’t drive a WAV.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.

We are updating the CPV Code of Practice and want to hear industry feedback.
We’ve restructured the Code to make it clearer and easier to use, with clearer guidance around key safety hazards for drivers, vehicle owners and booking service providers (BSPs).
The legal safety duties haven’t changed - but the guidance has been simplified.
How to give us your feedback:
1. Read the updated Code (relevant to your role): https://go.vic.gov.au/4tIGgC6
2. Complete the short survey: https://bit.ly/4tIGoS6
Drivers, vehicle owners and BSPs can all help shape the final Code. But hurry, the survey closes this Sunday at 11:59pm.
