Last week Queanbeyan Police Station opened their doors to our little friends from Kindy Patch for a special tour of the police station ๐Ÿš”

The group enjoyed a "behind the scene's" look at a working police station, which included trying on police uniforms, exploring the police vehicles (including lights and sirens๐Ÿšจ), a guided tour of the custody area and even visited the forensics unit for some fun activities! ๐Ÿ”Ž

Thank you again to Kindy Patch for visiting, we hope everyone enjoyed their day ๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿ’™

Operation Labour Day begins at midnight tonight and runs until 11:59 pm on Monday, 5 October 2026.

With increased traffic expected over the long weekend, school holidays and the NRL Grand Final, officers across the state will be targeting the major contributing factors to road trauma: Alcohol- and drug-impaired driving, fatigue, failure to wear occupant restraints and helmets, driver distraction, including mobile phone use and
excessive speed.

We can all play a part in reducing road trauma.

If you're heading out this long weekend, have a Plan B to get home safely. Look out for your friends and family, and don't be afraid to speak up if someone reaches for their keys when they shouldn't.

Remember, double demerits are in effect for speeding, illegal mobile phone use, not wearing a seatbelt and riding without a helmet.

Have a safe and enjoyable long weekend from all of us at the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command.

Last week the Monaro Police District recognised the milestones and achievements of members at the annual awards presentation held at Queanbeyan Police Station.

It was a proud occasion for the Monaro PD, with numerous officers recognised with service awards, certificates and other commendations for their dedication, professionalism and contribution to policing.

The ceremony was hosted by Superintendent Toby Lindsay APM with attendees including Deputy Commissioner Paul Pisanos APM, Detective Acting Assistant Commissioner Tim Beattie, Superintendent Chad Gillies, ACT Police Commander Jason Kennedy APM, and Commanding Officer HMAS Harman Commander Dean Thompson, along with other distinguished guests, families and colleagues.

Awards recognise individual achievements, but behind every recipient is a team, a family and a community supporting them.

Congratulations to all our award recipients.

National Police Remembrance Day

Today, on National Police Remembrance Day, the Monaro Police District welcomed our interstate policing colleagues and agency guests to take part in the National Police Remembrance Day 2026 Dawn Service held at Queanbeyan Police Station.

Today we honour and remember the police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. Their courage, professionalism, and dedication to protecting others continue to inspire us every day. We also acknowledge the families, friends, and colleagues who carry their memory and legacy forward, ensuring their service and sacrifice are never forgotten.

During today's dawn service, four touchstones were presented and blessed by police chaplains from New South Wales, Victoria, and Western Australia. These touchstones will be added to the Memorial Wall at the National Police Memorial in Canberra during today's evening service, on Tuesday 29th September 2026.

In tribute, we remember the four officers honoured today:

โ€ข Sergeant Mark Anthony Bransgrove (NSW Police Force)
โ€ข Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson (Victoria Police)
โ€ข Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart (Victoria Police)
โ€ข Detective Senior Constable Maxine Anne Bembridge (Western Australia Police Force)

Our thoughts are also with the loved ones and colleagues of Constable Mia Lay, whose recent passing has been deeply felt across the NSW Police Force.

As a policing family, we stand together in remembrance, gratitude, and respect for those who have served and those we have lost.

Thank you for your service. ๐Ÿ’™ ๐Ÿ’™
