With high temperatures and a high fire danger today, it is likely that fire trucks will be responding to fires throughout the afternoon.
Raymond Terrace is particularly busy today and this weekend, so if you hear sirens, please move to the left and stop to allow emergency services vehicles to progress through the traffic with minimal obstruction.

Here's something you don't see every day!
Two Cat 7s parked in our station...
Yesterday we were called to a tree alight on the edge of the previously burnt area along Newline Road .
Our driver needed to return to the station during the call, so we swapped our larger Cat 1 tanker for Medowie's Cat 7 to ensure the best outcome on the fireground.
Medowie's crew brought our Cat 1 back after the call and took their Cat 7 home.

Today marks the official start of the bush fire season, with the Bush Fire Danger Period beginning in most NSW Local Government Areas.

If you’re planning on conducting a burn, you’ll require a fire permit from your local Fire Control Centre or brigade. Fire permits help ensure fire is used safely and reduces the danger to you, your property and the community.

Residents and land holders must know the rules when it comes to the use of fire. Along with having the required fire permits, you need to notify your local fire authority and neighbours of your intent to burn at least 24 hours in advance.

For more information on the Bush Fire Danger Period and requirements around safe burning, visit our website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/BFDP
