Friending Staff on Facebook
Please note that the Department of Education and Communities has this advice for teachers 'Friending' parents on Facebook:
The line between your professional and personal life could become blurred making it difficult to manage your professional relationship with the parents when that becomes necessary. You also need to bear in mind that becoming a Facebook friend with a parent could result in their children getting access to your account as well. You also need to be mindful that you need to be careful what you say on Facebook if you have parents as friends as comments made online can be misunderstood and could result in parental complaints made to your principal. In short, please do not ask to friend a member of staff on Facebook as refusal often offends.

It’s been another busy week of learning in KAR!

In writing, we’ve been putting all our sheep facts to work, writing 2 or even 3 sentences! Kinder have been learning all about animals as we get excited for our upcoming Oakvale Wildlife Park excursion. 🐨🐏

In Maths, we explored volume and more and less, then put our learning to the test with a water relay to see which team could collect the most water. Lots of learning, laughs and a few splashes along the way! 💦

Evacuation Drill
Today, we had a scheduled evacuation drill at school. The purpose of this drill was to ensure that our students and staff are well prepared in the event of an emergency.
We're happy to report that everything went smoothly and safely. All students followed instructions calmly and efficiently and returned to class with smiles on their faces!
Thank you to our staff and students for making safety a priority.

🌊 Stage 1's Amazing Newcastle Adventure! 🚌⛴️

Stage 1 had an amazing day exploring Newcastle!

Our adventure began with a bus trip to Stockton Wharf, followed by a ferry ride across to Queens Wharf. We enjoyed walking along the harbour, spotting tugboats and even a huge coal ship.

After a well-deserved lunch break, we explored the Newcastle Museum, where students loved the Mr Squiggle exhibition, discovered Newcastle's fascinating history, experienced a steel-making simulation, and got hands-on with the exciting Supernova science exhibition.

We then travelled to Fort Scratchley, where we watched the famous 1pm Time Gun firing before heading underground for a guided tour of the historic tunnels.

A fantastic day filled with learning, discovery and fun! ⭐

Our Jnr AECG leaders continue to make us proud! 🖤💛❤️

Today, these boys represented GPS with pride as they connected and participated in conversations with Jnr AECG members from our local schools. They then enjoyed a morning of traditional games, followed by a delicious lunch at Hunter River High School.

We are so proud to see our students representing GPS, building connections and embracing opportunities to learn, lead and celebrate culture. 🖤💛❤️

Can you explain how these terms are represented inside a terrarium?:
•Atmosphere

•Lithosphere

3/4S can! AND they can explain how each system interacts with one another inside their very own, take home terrarium.

Here they are, having lots of hands-on fun in science today with Mrs Moore.

Anyone game to share their knowledge of these super-cool science words? Our little scientists would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below - no cheating!

They are also excited to observe these systems at work inside their terrariums over the next few weeks.
